RetroFitness Plans 10 New Locations for Five Boroughs of New York

New Jersey-based national fitness chain executes strategic growth and development plan that will add more than 30 new gyms to the New York City area by the end of 2015

May 31, 2011 // Franchising.com // COLTS NECK, NJ – The rapidly growing fitness chain that has taken New Jersey by storm with the opening of more than 40 locations during a 60-month window has now hit the ground running in New York.

RetroFitness, a national gym offering the industry's most innovative and motivating workout environment at a tremendous $19.99 per month value, today announced it has inked five multi-unit franchise agreements that will bring 10 new locations to the five boroughs of New York during the next 6 to 18 months. The new locations will add to the 11 RetroFitness gyms currently operating in the market and four under development.

"We're unstoppable," said Eric Casaburi, CEO of RetroFitness. "RetroFitness is blazing a trail of strategic growth and signing new franchise agreements nearly every week with high level franchise investors. It's our systemwide revenue numbers that speak to the success of our brand as we continue to deliver the best in health and fitness without the heavy price tag. We look forward to developing the concept in New York and introducing even more consumers to the brand."

In 2010 alone, RetroFitness opened 21 new gyms and inked more than 30 franchise agreements across the nation. Today, the company has 70-plus gyms operating in 10 states with more than 100 new clubs in its development pipeline. Company plans call for 300 new gyms to open during the next three years focusing primarily on markets throughout New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Washington D.C. Additionally, RetroFitness' revenues surpass the national fitness club average by more than 120 percent.

The RetroFitness franchise model continually attracts high-quality, single and multi-unit investors who have a strong business acumen. Offering entrepreneurs the opportunity to open in flexible 10,000 to 16,000 square-foot spaces in key U.S. markets where prime real estate is more affordable than ever before, RetroFitness is "fit" for investors in the current economy.

Each new RetroFitness location will feature a full-collection of strength, free weight and cardiovascular machines that are equipped with personalized LCD television screens. Members can also work up a sweat in the popular RetroTheatre that houses cardio equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals and recumbent bikes, all arranged in a stadium-theatre-like-setting, and plays movies on a gigantic screen throughout the day. Additional services such as personal training, tanning, full-service locker rooms, onsite childcare, chiropractic and massage, as well as a RetroBlends juice bar will also be available for members.

For New York members wanting extra support outside the gym, RetroFitness has launched its Retro Results Program, an effective personalized online fitness and nutrition center that informs, educates and tracks weight loss goals and results. Members can take advantage of the program by visiting www.retrofitness.net and clicking on the Fit Tools section of the website.

"We are not a bare bones fitness facility, but we are skinny on price," added Casaburi. "We make working out fun for everyone. From offering the newest, hottest equipment out on the market today, RetroFitness has it all."
