Global Stars Perform at Vienna’s St. Stephen’s Cathedral for the Benefit of the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation

Sixt Annual Global Convention takes place from November 13 to 16 under the patronage of Dr. Michael Häupl, Mayor of Vienna

Vienna - November 7, 2013 – Sixt, the largest car rental company in Austria, is to welcome more than 900 managers to the Sixt Annual Global Convention, a four-day event being held in the Austrian capital from November 13 to 16. At the convention, which is taking place under the patronage of the Mayor of Vienna, Dr. Michael Häupl, the company will establish the strategic course of action for the coming years. The event is being organized and chaired by Regine Sixt, director of international marketing, and her team.

The highlight is a star-studded concert on 14 November at St. Stephen’s Cathedral for the benefit of the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation "Drying Little Tears" – and the media are warmly invited to attend.

In addition to international managers from the group, Sixt will welcome important decision-makers from the mobility and tourism industry, including Werner Decker, the national manager of American Express in Germany, and Christoph von Tschirschnitz, vice president of fleet, corporate and direct sales at the BMW Group.

Regine Sixt: "This is a kind of home-coming for the world of Sixt. I’m extremely happy to bring our global convention to my husband’s birthplace. We will be welcoming more than 900 key staff from 105 countries where the Sixt name is well established. Our company provides mobility with more than 200,000 vehicles, and we have led the market in Austria for years."

As a highlight of the Sixt Annual Convention, the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation "Drying Little Tears" has invited guests to attend a charity concert at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in aid of the foundation on Thursday, November 14. To support this good cause, top international stars have put together an exciting program featuring works by composers such as Mozart, Robert Stolz, and Johann Strauss.

The performers include:

  • Michael Schade, one of the best tenors of our time, an Austrian chamber music singer, artistic director of the International Baroque Music Festival at Melk Abbey, and member of the Vienna State Opera;
  • Lucia Aliberti, a soprano who is at home on the best stages in the world, having made her debut at the Teatro della Scala in Milan and the Deutsche Oper in Berlin;
  • Ildikó Raimondi, an Austrian soprano, chamber music singer, and member of the Vienna State Opera.

The other musicians helping to provide an evening of unforgettable entertainment are Dorottya Láng (mezzo soprano), Thomas Tatzl (bass baritone), the Wiener Sängerknaben, the Chorus Viennensis, and the Vienna Cathedral Orchestra.

Regine Sixt: "My team and I have tried hard to present our international guests with the very best that Austria has to offer, working with Elisabeth Gürtler, managing director of the Spanish Riding School, who will give a performance with her Lipizzaner stallions, for example. Of course, there will also be a night at a traditional wine tavern and a gala evening at the Museum of Natural History."

Mayor Dr. Michael Häupl: "As the mayor of Vienna, I am very pleased to welcome the participants of this year’s Sixt Annual Convention to our city. The decision to hold this event in Vienna means that everyone can enjoy the high quality of life that our city is so famous for."
