Dogtopia Expanding National Growth With New Michigan Regional Developer Agreement

Award Winning Dog Daycare, Spa and Boarding Franchise Seeks Franchisees and Commercial Properties Throughout the Region

Tysons Corner, Va. (PRWEB) December 04, 2013 - Dogtopia, a national dog daycare and 2013 recipient of "Inc." 500/5000 List of America’s Fastest Growing Companies announced today it has signed a regional developer agreement with Scott Paul and John D. Anderson to expand into Michigan. This agreement is part of Dogtopia’s aggressive growth strategy to open more than 400 locations across the U.S. and Canada over the next seven years.

Paul and Anderson, both successful business owners/operators in Michigan, are currently seeking qualified franchise candidates to open 8-10 Dogtopia locations throughout the region. The company is targeting cities like Birmingham, Bloomfield, Ann Arbor, Lake Orion, Rochester Hills, West Bloomfield and Grand Rapids. Paul has plans to open the first, flagship Dogtopia next spring/summer in either the Bloomfield or Birmingham area.

"When I was young, I wanted to be a vet. I’ve loved dogs my whole life and my family bred Golden Retrievers. Professionally, I took another path, but leading the charge for Dogtopia in Michigan allows me to combine my passion for pets and business," said Scott Paul, Dogtopia Michigan regional developer. "We are very excited to join the Dogtopia franchise system at a time when the brand is poised for significant national growth, driven by strong executive leadership."

Paul’s success in business has come from owning The Sealer Store, an eCommerce company that specializes in high-end exterior stains and is now the largest independent exterior wood stain retailer in the country. Anderson has served as a business advisor for over 15 years and has equity in a multitude of companies. Anderson is the founder of the Entrepreneurs Organization Detroit Chapter, which is where he and Paul were initially introduced.

In 2002, Amy Nichols founded Dogtopia in part due to her own challenges finding suitable care for her Boston Terrier, Griffin, while she maintained a busy career. She was confident there were many other working professionals and busy families just like her looking for an alternative to leaving their beloved dog at home alone all day.

"We are dedicated to being best-in-class in our industry and look for other best-in-class partners to help Dogtopia realize its enterprising goals over the next four years. Scott and John both have impressive track records in business. Their combined experience along with their enthusiasm for Dogtopia make it the perfect time for us to expand into Michigan," said Amy Nichols, CEO of Dogtopia. "As we continue to grow across North America with our regional developer model, it is critical to identify entrepreneurs like Scott and John who serve as local representatives for the brand and are focused on owning and managing a rapidly growing business."

As pet spending continues to increase, now is the ideal time for the Dogtopia franchise system. According to the American Pet Products Association (APPA), pet spending is estimated to reach an all-time high of more than $62 billion in the United States in 2013. Additionally, 68 percent of U.S. households own a pet, which equates to 82.5 million homes, demonstrating there is a significant population that could benefit from dog daycare.

Since Dogtopia launched in 2002, it has grown to 24 franchises and five company-owned locations nationwide. There are currently six regional developers representing 75 future Dogtopia locations. Dogtopia’s design and color scheme mirrors that of an upscale spa, yet is laid out in a similar manner to a children’s daycare facility, there are multiple playrooms to suit every dog’s personality and size. In addition to daycare and boarding, Dogtopia also offers a spa, self-service dog wash and a boutique to pamper dogs of all shapes and sizes.
