Growing U.S. In-Home Care Franchise Announces Plans to Fill U.K. Demand

BrightStar Care to Kick Off United Kingdom Expansion Plans at Franchise Opportunities Live Show

CHICAGO - August 27, 2014  - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The population of seniors over the age of 80 in the United Kingdom is currently between three and four million, and this number is expected to double by 2050. To fill this built-in demand, U.S.-based BrightStar Care, with more than 260 franchises that provide private duty medical and non-medical in-home care, plans to expand aggressively across the United Kingdom with Master Franchisees and Area Developers.

"The BrightStar Care proven track record of growing franchise businesses that provide expert, compassionate care in the United States, coupled with our solid infrastructure and resources, make us the ideal franchise to be at the forefront of filling demand for in-home care needs in the United Kingdom"

To kick off its efforts, company executives will host an information booth at the Franchise Opportunities Live Show, being held September 5-6, 2014, in Park Place Victoria in London.

After conducting an in-depth analysis of various countries across the world, BrightStar Care identified a significant need for its range of services and commitment to high standards of care in the United Kingdom, as well as in other countries. Earlier this year, BrightStar Care created an international division to start expanding in the United Kingdom, as well as Canada, Australia, Mexico, China, Japan, New Zealand and other areas of Europe.

"The BrightStar Care proven track record of growing franchise businesses that provide expert, compassionate care in the United States, coupled with our solid infrastructure and resources, make us the ideal franchise to be at the forefront of filling demand for in-home care needs in the United Kingdom," said Shelly Sun, CEO and co-founder of BrightStar Care.

International franchise development veteran Anthony Padulo, who has previously led international franchising efforts for franchises such as Dunkin’ Brands, BP Oil and Aamco, is spearheading the expansion. As Executive Vice President, International for BrightStar Care, Padulo is focusing efforts on securing deals with Area Developers in the United Kingdom to own and operate 75 locations at a time, or Master Franchisees, who can sub-franchise after opening two to five of their own locations.

"The ideal candidates to lead development in the United Kingdom would be sophisticated operators who have experience in managing their own organizations, and who clearly understand the franchisor/franchisee relationship and the training and support process for franchisees," Padulo said.

Padulo is planning to meet qualified candidates at the Franchise Opportunities Live Show, a unique, small-scale franchise exhibition in which visitors are offered the chance to pre-book meetings with a range of franchises exhibiting and gain insight into the business. Padulo will be available to speak with guests at the BrightStar Care International table and he will also be presenting in the High Investment Panel Seminar from 12-12:45 p.m. GMT. both days.

About BrightStar Care

BrightStar Care is unique among private duty home care providers in its commitment and ability to deliver the highest quality of care. Each franchise location employs a Registered Nurse Director of Nursing who creates unique, personalized plans of care for each client and oversees professional care teams of well-qualified, experienced caregivers who deliver expert, compassionate and personal care. BrightStar Care locations also are able to provide the full continuum of care, including non-medical and medical services, which means BrightStar Care can continue to provide trusted service to their clients as their healthcare needs advance over time. In addition to the active role of the Registered Nurse Director of Nurse, BrightStar Care locations are required to obtain and maintain Joint Commission Accreditation. The Joint Commission is an internationally recognized healthcare-quality-standards organization with rigorous standards.

Recently, The Joint Commission presented BrightStar Care with the prestigious Enterprise Champion for Quality Award for its proven commitment to the highest level of clinical quality and safety — for the second year in a row. BrightStar Care is one of the charter recipients of this award and the largest national home care franchise to achieve this distinction. In addition, Forbes Magazine recently named BrightStar Care as the nation’s No. 1 franchise system in the category of brands with entry costs of up to $150,000.
