Right at Home Continues European Expansion; Opens Office in The Netherlands

Master Franchise Partner Expands Brand Internationally to Provide Simple Solution for Shifting Healthcare Landscape

OMAHA, Neb. - January 29, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Right at Home, a leading in-home care franchise, continues to position itself at the forefront of the global in-home care industry, starting 2015 off by celebrating its newest opening in The Netherlands, led by Master Franchise Partner and in-home care advocate Peter van de Burgt. Right at Home Nederland will begin offering services to the swiftly expanding elderly Dutch population on 29 January - services that immediately address the need for home care in The Netherlands. The office, located at Alphen a/d Rijn, will support the care needs of the rising elderly adult population, which is expected reach 24.8 percent of the country's population by 2025. Right at Home Nederland will offer simple alternatives to the current public companion and personal care services available in The Netherlands, which are in a state of transition, leaving many elderly adults and their families unclear on how to best secure in-home care services.

Right at Home Nederland will introduce its client-centered care solution to the public with a free grand opening seminar entitled "Challenges in Elderly Care," taking place on 29 January. The seminar will be hosted onsite at Alphen a/d Rijn and last from 15:30 to 16:45 and feature the following keynote speakers:

  • Ir. W. te Meerman MSc, Senior Managing Consultant for Berenschot; Addressing attendees on the wishes and needs of (future) elderly and the trade-offs and strategic decisions related to it.
  • B. Martin, Vice President of International Operations for Right at Home International; Addressing attendees on international developments in the elderly care.

With the senior population forecasted to reach more than 4.43 million by 2050, The Netherlands is a key market in need of in-home care services. In 2015, elderly companion and personal care services in The Netherlands, including in-home senior care, will be eliminated from the roster of elderly care services managed by the federal government. The new care infrastructure will opt for the decentralization of elderly care, transitioning management of companion and personal care services for the aging population to individual municipalities. At the municipal level, aging citizens will be able to receive Care in Kind, care benefits dependent on income and doctor designation, or through the Personal Budget, a care funding option that allows users to determine how they prefer to allocate the funding they have been awarded to receive the long-term care services they want. Through this new process, elderly adults must report assets and income to determine the amount of care they are entitled to from their municipality.

In addition to structural changes, the Dutch government plans to reduce health care costs associated with aging adults by encouraging friends and family members of the elderly to take care of those who need additional assistance. Like many countries throughout the world, the rise in demand for professional caregivers continues to increase in The Netherlands, as often times friends and family are ill-equipped to provide the care and assistance their elderly loved one requires. Thus, there is a demand for quality, professional care solutions, such as those offered by Right at Home.

"The need for in-home senior care options is greater than ever, and anchoring ourselves as a premier healthcare option in The Netherlands will help jumpstart development in an area where our services are essential," said Allen Hager, Founder and Executive Chairman of Right at Home. "Through our partnership with Peter, we are committed to providing care of the utmost quality to the aging population and improving the overall quality of life for Dutch citizens."

Van de Burgt will oversee the development of franchise locations throughout major cities including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague. The entrepreneur joins Right at Home in pursuit of providing a straightforward and simple care solution in The Netherlands in the midst of general confusion surrounding impending changes to home-care and assistance and its administration across the municipalities.

"It's my intention to ease the disorientation and confusion surrounding new government policies in senior care and provide Holland with a simple, proven in-home solution for those who need care and assistance," van de Burgt explains. "Through Right at Home, we will offer professional care and peace of mind for our clients, the future aging generation and their loved ones with a personalized, transparent and direct process."

Right at Home's stellar reputation and the growing need for in-home senior care have been the driving forces behind the company's impressive expansion in the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, China, Canada, Ireland, Australia, Japan, and The Netherlands. Right at Home will continue to provide the highest quality of care as the brand expands globally.
