A Dozen Another Broken Eggs Scramble into San Diego

Awarding Winning Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch Cafe Targets California for Egg-spansion with 12 Store Deal

SAN DIEGO - August 03, 2015 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Another Broken Egg Cafe, America’s fastest growing breakfast restaurant celebrated for its charming atmosphere and diversified menu options, today announces the signing of a landmark franchise agreement to open a dozen restaurants throughout the San Diego area over the next five years. The new restaurants will be open under the leadership of David Lee, a veteran of both the restaurant industry and the United States Army.

Lee is no stranger to finding success with a growing food brand. After running a multi-million dollar tech company as the number one computer distributor in the Midwest, Lee first retired at the age of 42, but reentered the workforce 1987 to franchise with Subway. Over the years, Lee developed his own sub sandwich empire, growing to 240 stores. Prior to discovering and meeting with the executive team at Another Broken Egg Cafe, Lee was enjoying his second retirement.

“From its menu to its customer service, to its real estate, Another Broken Egg Cafe was the only brand that made it worth coming out of my second retirement,” said Lee. “Just as I did, San Diego residents will quickly discover that our southern-inspired cuisine and welcoming atmosphere is a truly one-of-a-kind experience. With over 130 delicious options, from Bananas Foster to Huevos Rancheros and eight ‘Signature’ Benedicts, our menu is sure to satisfy every palette. Plus, it helps that San Diego has the perfect weather to sit on a patio enjoying a Bloody Mary and brunch every day of the year.”

Within the 12 store development deal, targeted regions throughout the San Diego area include Downtown San Diego, La Jolla, Mission Valley, Pacifica Beach and San Bernardino. Lee is aggressively scouting sites in hopes of opening the first two restaurants in early 2016. The next 10 will be open and operating by year’s end 2020.

“Another Broken Egg Cafe is thrilled to be expanding our presence in Southern California with someone who has an extremely successful track record in the hospitality industry,” said Nick Binnings, VP of Brand Development at ABEC. “David’s team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our brand, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership.”

The announcement of the multi-unit agreement comes in a banner year for the breakfast company that is about to open its 50th location. With 49 locations across the U.S., the renowned brand plans to more than double its footprint over the next three years with a total of 100 restaurants by 2018.
