Hilton Garden Inn Announces Opening of New Hotel in Cusco, Peru

Brand’s First Hotel in Peru Welcomes Travelers to the Historical “Imperial City”

January 08, 2016 // Franchising.com // CUSCO, Peru and MCLEAN, Va. – Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Worldwide’s (NYSE: HLT) award-winning brand of hotels, announced today the opening of the brand’s first hotel in Peru – the new 137-room Hilton Garden Inn Cusco in the city’s historic neighborhood of Santa Ana. The new hotel in this world-renowned tourist destination represents the company’s fourth in Peru and the latest addition to the brand’s growing portfolio of more than 650 hotels worldwide.

“With Hilton Garden Inn Cusco we are excited to introduce our brand's signature service, style and Satisfaction Promise™ to a major tourist destination,” said John Greenleaf, global head, Hilton Garden Inn. “Hilton Garden Inn's positioning as the ideal choice for travelers seeking quality services, thoughtful amenities and great value makes it a compelling brand for the millions of international travelers who visit the city each year.”

Located on a hillside, overlooking the historic city and within walking distance to Plaza de Armas, Hilton Garden Inn Cusco offers the perfect home-base to explore the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site and the surrounding areas, as one of the hotels with fastest access to the area’s main sites and airport. Built respecting the natural surroundings, the city’s ancient culture and local architecture, Hilton Garden Inn Cusco features colonial design, with fresh and contemporary elements, as well as an abundance of natural light. In addition to two large, open-air courtyards ideal for unwinding, the newest hotel in the city boasts high-end amenities and welcoming services for travelers to sleep deep, stay fit, eat well and work smart while on the road.

The 137 well-appointed guest rooms feature the brand’s signature bedding with white duvets and crisp linens; a spacious and clutter-free work desk with an ergonomic desk chair; complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel; 42” LCD high-definition flat-screen television; and an in-room "hospitality center" with mini refrigerator and complimentary coffee. Rooms pay tribute to the area’s cultural significance with local artwork and design elements.

Dining options include the Garden Grille - a full-service restaurant led by Daniel Chang Matsusaka, local Peruvian chef. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, the restaurant features the famous flavors of Peru combined with international cuisine, complete with locally sourced ingredients. For a relaxing evening after a busy day of meetings or sightseeing, guests can enjoy drinks and light snacks at the Conservatory Lounge, offering panoramic views of the city, its architecture and surrounding mountains. The hotel also offers a Pavilion Lounge, complete with fireplace, in-room dining and the 24-hour Pavilion Pantry® shop with a selection of delicious ready-made meals, beverages and snacks, as well as last minute essentials.

Other amenities include space for yoga sessions and flexible meeting space for up to 140 guests. The courtyards can accommodate 250 guests for social events and gatherings.

“Cusco is undoubtedly one of the most important historic sites and tourist destinations in Latin America” said Tom Potter, senior vice president, Latin America and the Caribbean for Hilton Worldwide. “As our first hotel in the area, Hilton Garden Inn Cusco is a great addition to our portfolio and an example of our commitment to grow our presence throughout key markets in South America.”

Once the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco is known for its vibrant, indigenous culture and historical sites. Because of its antiquity and importance, the city center retains many colonial buildings, plazas, streets and churches of pre-Columbian times. Cusco also serves as the gateway to some of the most storied archaeological sites in Latin America including Machu Picchu, which can be reached on foot by the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu or by train, and the Sacred Valley.
