Hwy 55 Showcases Charleston Chop Sandwich for National Southern Food Day on January 22

$1 donation for each Charleston Chop sold from January 22-31 to Benefit Speedway Children’s Charities

January 14, 2016 // Franchising.com // Mount Olive, NC - Nobody knows the South like Hwy 55 and it is about to show you that nothing is more Southern than a fried chicken sandwich smothered in BBQ Sauce.

In honor of National Southern Food Day on January 22, Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries is showcasing a masterpiece, which made its debut earlier this month: The Charleston Chop – a fried chicken breast, chopped & smothered in John Boy & Billy’s Grillin’ Sauce and topped with melted provolone and pickles. The Southern-style sandwich sells for $7.99 and includes fries and a drink.

Hwy 55 will donate $1 for each Charleston Chop sold from January 22-31 to Speedway Children’s Charities, a charity near and dear to John Boy & Billy, stars of the national syndicated radio show The Big Show. Hwy 55 Founder and President Kenney Moore recently was featured on The Big Show talking about the new Charleston Chop and donation.

"Hwy 55 has an amazing relationship with John Boy & Billy and it goes way beyond having their famous BBQ sauce on many of our menu items,” said Moore. "So to honor the relationship, we wanted to feature a killer Southern sandwich on National Southern Food and also raise money for such as great cause, one John Boy & Billy have been involved with and supporting for many years.”

Speedway Children’s Charities is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and provides funding for hundreds of non-profit organizations throughout the nation that meet the direct needs of children. The organization’s vision is that every child has the same opportunities no matter what obstacle they are facing.

The Charleston Chop was created by Tanner Guthrie from Charleston as part of Hwy 55’s “Own-It” program, where Hwy 55 invites customers to submit sandwich ideas, which may appear on the Hwy 55 menu.

Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries boasts a fresh, All-American diner experience with fresh, never-frozen burgers, premium sliced cheesesteaks piled high on steamed hoagies, and frozen custard made in-house every day. With its open-grill design, the kitchen's dedication and care when handcrafting meals is front and center.
