American Family Care Appoints Birmingham Regional Medical Director

Dr. Jeremy Allen brings extensive ER and Urgent Care experience to new role.

BIRMINGHAM, AL (PRWEB) November 17, 2016 - American Family Care (AFC) announced today that Dr. Jeremy Allen has been promoted to Medical Director for the company’s Birmingham region. In the role, Allen will lead a group of seasoned medical professionals focused on urgent care, primary care, chronic care, and occupational medicine at 18 of AFC’s medical centers located in Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Gadsden, and Pell City.

Dr. Allen joined AFC in 2014 and has been serving as a lead physician in the Birmingham market. Prior to joining AFC, Allen served as an Emergency Department physician with St. Vincent’s Health System. From 2006 to 2012, Dr. Allen was a primary care and pain management physician at Birmingham’s Cooper Green Hospital, where he specialized in caring for chronically ill patients. “Jeremy’s past experience in primary care, emergency room medicine, and in our own clinics makes him the perfect choice to lead the medical operations in one of our key markets,” says Randy Johansen, President of American Family Care. “Without question, Jeremy’s new role within our organization will bolster our efforts to provide the best healthcare possible and, more broadly, enhance our evolution as a company,” continued Johansen.

In addition to his day-to-day role as a physician, Dr. Allen has also stayed at the forefront of medicine through board certifications from the American Board of Family Medicine, as well as the American Academy of Pain Management. “I accept this new role with a sense of both excitement and humility,” says Allen. “I look forward to building upon AFC’s reputation for excellence, particularly as it emerges as one of the most admired brands in health care.

During the past 34 years, AFC has pioneered the concept of non-emergency room care and expanded its footprint to more than 26 states. Each clinic features a high-tech, high-touch approach, including digital x-rays, on-site lab testing, state-of-the-art diagnostics, and electronic medical records. Most clinics are open daily from at least 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and no appointments are necessary.
