Maaco Experiences Strong Growth in Dallas, Revs Up Brand Presence in Texas

Collision Repair and Auto Painting Franchise Looks to Mimic Lone Star State Growth Strategy Nationwide

June 20, 2017 // Franchising.com // DALLAS – Maaco Auto Painting & Collision Repair, America’s No. 1 auto painting and collision repair franchise, has aggressively expanded in Texas this year through a two-pronged strategy of new franchisees signing on with the brand and the acquisition and conversion of existing independent auto body shops. The brand plans to have 40 licenses sold in the first half of 2017 alone. In its 45th year in business, Maaco has identified Texas as its fastest growing state and looks to replicate its success in other markets across the U.S. and Canada.

Maaco currently operates 46 locations throughout Texas. The franchise has recently experienced significant growth in the Dallas market, where it opened the brand’s 500th unit in March, and operates 18 locations in the greater Dallas market with five additional grand openings planned in the coming months in Rockwall, Keller, Plano, Euless, and Mesquite.

Additionally, Maaco is looking to grow its brand presence in specific markets throughout Texas, including Galveston, San Antonio, El Paso, College Station and Beaumont.

“Texas is currently the fastest growing state for Maaco and has proven to be extremely receptive to our business model,” said Rob Cambruzzi, Vice President of Maaco Franchise Development. “We’re excited about the development we’ve seen here and look to continue the strategy to expand our footprint throughout the U.S. and Canada. One unique way we’ve been able to grow in Dallas is through independent body shop owners selling their shops to area Maaco licensees, who then convert the shops into Maaco centers. In addition to replicating this strategy in other markets, we are actively looking for business-minded entrepreneurs across North America who are seeking franchising opportunities in the booming auto aftermarket industry to join the Maaco family.”

In Dallas, Maaco awarded licenses to several new franchisees in 2017, most recently to Vikrant Bhatia, a Dallas-based entrepreneur, who has since purchased two local body shops for conversion.

Because of the success in Texas through Maaco’s licensing program, the company is looking to replicate this growth strategy in other markets. California, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan, Connecticut, Florida and the greater Toronto area, top the list for areas where licensees are ready to purchase interested independent auto body shops if the facility meets the basic criteria for square footage, zoning requirements and has a functional paint booth. The company is also offering independent auto body shop owners looking to increase profitability and efficiency the opportunity to become Maaco franchisees by converting their shops into Maaco centers. Franchisees benefit from a flexible lifestyle with family-oriented 8-5 Monday through Friday operating hours, and a great earnings potential. Average certified Maaco centers generate over $1.3 million** in sales, with franchisees generating an average net income of $198,963**.

Maaco is the largest paint and collision repair franchise in the growing $43 billion auto aftermarket segment. The franchise plans on adding 60 new franchisees over the next year to achieve an overarching goal of becoming a $1 billion brand.

Maaco’s parent company, Driven Brands, Inc., is a leading automotive franchise holding company with over $2.3 billion in system-wide annual sales and more than 2,500 locations worldwide.
