March 24th HydroDog Public Dog Bathing Event Benefits Dakin Humane Society

March 23, 2018 // Franchising.com // West Springfield, Massachusetts - HydroDog, a mobile dog grooming service launching its first local franchise in the West Springfield area, will be conducting a public dog washing event to benefit the Dakin Humane Society. The event will take place on Saturday, March 24th from 1pm to 4pm in the Dakin Humane Society parking lot, at 171 Union St. in Springfield, Mass.

HydroDog holds nonprofit events nationwide with their Big Blue Dog mobile grooming vans to help shelter dogs through Bathe to Save, a national dog washing tour and local event series. The national tour is organized and conducted by HydroDog Founder Anthony Amos, his wife, and their three children. With the tour in its second year, HydroDog is now launching recurring local Bathe To Save events that are conducted by its mobile dog grooming franchisees across the country. HydroDog’s Bathe To Save dog washing events at shelters and rescue organizations serve as fundraisers for these shelters, so by bringing your dog to get washed you will be supporting the shelter and promoting animal adoption. All event proceeds are donated back to the animal rescue organizations partnering in the event.

Dakin Humane Society is a community supported animal welfare organization that provides shelter, medical care, spay/neuter services, and behavioral rehabilitation to more than 20,000 animals each year.

“Our love of dogs and commitment to the rescue community led us to become HydroDog’s first U.S. franchisees,” said Lesley Maple, who co-owns the West Springfield HydroDog business with her husband, Jody. “I operate a pet care business and I’ve been a K9 Elite volunteer at Dakin Humane Society for three years, so joining the HydroDog team was an easy decision.”

As a part of their HydroDog preparation, Jody completed an intensive five-week master grooming program at the prestigious Nash Academy in Louisville, Kentucky.

“I clocked in more than 200 hours of training in dog bathing, grooming and care in Kentucky,” he said. “It taught me the best ways to ensure pets get the care and treatment they deserve.”

Amos, a former professional rugby player, founded the mobile dog grooming business in his native Australia at age 21, and the company is now expanding franchises throughout the US. HydroDog visits homes, businesses and other locations by appointment in a fiberglass grooming salon in the shape of a blue dog. Within five years, HydroDog grew to hundreds sold across Australia and was the first franchise of its kind to be in all states and territories.

In October 2017, Kristen Clark volunteered at a Bathe to Save event sponsored by Subaru of New England. Meeting Anthony Amos and his family at the event and others for Dakin Humane Society led to Kristen becoming the Area Representative for Massachusetts.

Between bi-monthly nonprofit events, HydroDog travels to local residences to groom and wash dogs. To make a dog grooming appointment in the West Springfield area, call HydroDog at 413-327-7400.
