Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Parks™ Heads into Summer with Nearly 25% First Quarter Sales Uptick

More millennial ‘glampers’ driving growth at franchise

May 17, 2018 // Franchising.com // CINCINNATI - Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts, the nation’s second largest franchise campground system, has reported a 23.5 percent increase in park sales in the first quarter of 2018, compared with the same period last year. Meanwhile, total system occupancies for the first quarter - typically the slowest of the year - were up 3.8 percent over 2017.

This success builds on Jellystone Park’s record 2017 performance, which saw same-park sales rise 10.5 percent to more than $115 million, marking the ninth year of continuous sales increases.

This year’s growth is due in part to an improved reservation system that features a new mobile app, according to Jim Westover, vice president of Operations. “This allows campers to easily locate parks, pick their favorite sites and cabins, make reservations, book activities and keep track of their Club Yogi Rewards points,” he said. “We’re seeing a big uptick in reservations among millennials, who are really discovering camping and glamping, and like to book their trips via the app,” Westover added.

Sales also are up due to the addition of four parks. With the opening of locations in Sandusky, Ohio, Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Branson, Mo. and Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, Canada, Jellystone Parks has more than 18,000 campsite options, ranging from tent and RV sites to fully equipped luxury cabins.

Jellystone Parks recently launched a sweepstakes with a grand prize of a free, week-long glamping trip for five people to any park in the U.S. or Canada, as well as 20 first prizes of $100 Jellystone Park gift cards. The sweepstakes runs through June 10. Enter at www.campjellystone.com.

As a sign of its strong growth, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts appears for the first time on Franchise Business Review’s Top 200 list of award-winning franchise opportunities. The company has also moved up 207 slots to No. 265 on Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 list for 2018.

Launched in 1969, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resorts is the second largest chain of campgrounds in the United States, boasting 84 campgrounds with more than 18,000 campsites and vacation rentals in 31 states and four Canadian provinces. Jellystone Parks are franchised through Leisure Systems, Inc. (LSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Park River Corporation, Cincinnati, Ohio.
