Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids Becomes Largest and Fastest-Growing Children's Hair Salon

Boasts over 200 percent growth rate over the past three years

August 13, 2018 // Franchising.com // SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids, known for its interactive haircut experience complete with playgrounds, entertainment options at every cutting station and fun fantasy chairs in the shapes of cars, planes and more, has become the largest and fastest-growing children’s hair salon after experiencing growth over 200 percent in the past three years.

At the end of July 2018, Cookie Cutters will have 85 salons open and operating in 23 states and Canada. In 2015, the brand had only 27; in 2016, it grew to 30; and in 2017, the brand experienced a boom with 43 salons open. Yet, 2018 has been the brand’s strongest year with the opening of 28 salons since January, 44 in the last 12 months, and estimates of hitting 110 salons by the end of the year.

“We are proud to be the largest and fastest-growing children’s hair salon in the competitive space,” said Neal Courtney, CEO of Cookie Cutters, who acquired the brand with his wife Alexis Courtney, COO, in 2014. “We have been focused on targeting major metropolitan areas with high populations of children and signing multi-unit franchise owners to spur our rapid growth.”

Cookie Cutters offers an interactive haircut experience that both children and parents won’t soon forget. Upon entering the salon, children are welcomed by an in-store playground where they can climb and slide. Come time for the haircut, each station on the cutting floor is outfitted with unique fantasy chairs – from race cars to firetrucks and airplanes – as well as individual televisions for the kids to watch shows and movies. With a balloon, lollipop and a smile at the end of each haircut, the Cookie Cutters experience is designed to keep children coming back again and again. First ever haircuts for toddlers receive a special commemorative package with photo and hair clipping.

Having already sold out most major markets, including California, Oregon, New Jersey, Colorado, and Washington, the brand is now targeting mid-markets cities as it continues to expand nationwide.

“We plan to be the first mover in these markets and provide a sorely-needed service to parents and their children,” added Courtney.

With 85 locations currently open, the brand has 265 additional development deals in the pipeline. Courtney expects the brand to surpass the 100-store milestone by the end of 2018, and have 150 open in 2019. By 2025, Courtney estimates Cookie Cutters will have 300 locations.
