September 24, 2018 // Franchising.com // Irvine, Calif. - ‘Tis the season to Taco. Today kicks off National Taco Day celebrations for Taco Bell, as the brand builds on beloved traditions from years past and creates a few new ones globally. Not only is the $5 National Taco Day Gift Set back in U.S. restaurants nationwide on October 4th, this year Taco Bell is giving fans around the world reason to celebrate the most delicious season of the year.

“Holidays certainly differ across the globe, but we know that a celebration of taco love is nearly universal,” said Marisa Thalberg, Global Chief Brand Officer at Taco Bell Corp. “National Taco Day has become a beloved tradition in the United States, and it is our honor to help translate that tradition to our friends around the world.”

The brand is wishing fans across the world “seasoned beefings” beginning today, with a handful of holiday celebrations to enjoy during National Taco Day season. On October 4th, U.S. fans can look forward to the return of the $5 National Taco Day Gift Set, with festivities to follow internationally in more than 20 countries, with revelry ranging from free exclusive merchandise with any taco purchase in Australia to free tacos with any order in Sri Lanka.

Since 2017, Taco Bell has entered into new markets such as Australia, China, the Netherlands, Finland, Peru, Romania and Sri Lanka, all of which have fans who have shown unwavering support for the brand and the craveable tacos it serves worldwide.

“If our rapid expansion into nearly 30 countries is any indication, our fans’ unwavering excitement for tacos is limitless,” said Liz Williams, President, Taco Bell International. “It only makes sense for us to celebrate with them as we kick off the National Taco Day season.”

Traditions in the U.S. will expand with celebrations centered around not only food but also holiday stories like “Glen and the Magic Taco”, which tells the tale of National Taco Day’s origin according to Taco Bell. The beloved holiday special, inspired by Taco Bell’s founder Glen Bell and starring “El Cruncho”, will air leading up to October 4th to get fans excited for the big day, just like the classic holiday animated specials that define holiday tradition.
