Dogtopia Foundation Raises More Than $140,000 to Make a Difference in the Lives of Veterans

Dogtopia Foundation Raises Funds to Train Service Dogs for Vets Through America’s VetDogs

November 14, 2018 // Franchising.com // PHOENIX - In honor of Veterans Day, Dogtopia, the nation’s fastest-growing dog daycare, boarding and spa franchise, challenged each Dogtopia daycare center to make a difference in the lives of veterans through the Dogtopia Foundation, a company-wide initiative helping dogs to positively change the world. The Dogtopia Foundation established a store-wide initiative to raise funds for America’s VetDogs, a New York based organization dedicated to providing renewed independence to veterans and active-duty military members. Over the course of its fundraising, the Dogtopia Foundation raised more than $140,000 to support the training of 12 service dogs.

With the funds raised through the Dogtopia Foundation, these 12 dogs-in-training will help veterans, active-duty service members and first responders with disabilities, physical injuries, PTSD, hearing and vision loss, and seizures to experience enhanced mobility and renewed independence.

“The Dogtopia Foundation’s mission is to harness the power of philanthropy for the greater good and to enable dogs to positively change our world,” said Jeri Kendle, Foundation Manager of the Dogtopia Foundation. “We are honored to have the opportunity to come together to support America’s VetDogs and give back to the service men and women who have given so much for our country.”

The Dogtopia Foundation challenged each center to raise funds to support a service dog and was thrilled by the outpouring of support and participation in the fundraiser. Dogtopia of South Coast, California and Dogtopia of Tysons Corner, Virginia were among the many centers that went above and beyond expectations. Combined, these centers were able to raise more than $27,000, enough to sponsor four service dogs. Other notable participants include Steve Torres of the Tampa area, as well as Dogtopia of Houston, Waco, Highlands Ranch, Chester Springs and Omaha.

“America’s VetDogs commends the Dogtopia Foundation’s outstanding efforts in raising more than $140,000 to place 12 service dogs with deserving veterans and first responders with disabilities,” said America’s VetDogs CEO John Miller. “Dedicated and committed donors like Dogtopia enable us to further our mission to allow our nation’s heroes to live a life without boundaries.”

The Dogtopia Foundation enables dogs to positively change our world through funding programs focused around service dogs for veterans and first responders, youth literacy programs and employment initiatives for adults with autism. In 2019, the Dogtopia Foundation will offer grants to non-profit organizations committed to providing service dogs to veterans and will continue to work towards every U.S. Dogtopia daycare center to sponsor a service dog.
