January 23, 2019 // Franchising.com // Orlando, FL - The best film, food, and drink, all in one seat...and finally in The Sunshine State.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is pleased to unveil plans to open its first location in Orlando, Florida. Located at Vineland Pointe, the new 450,000 square foot retail shopping center at the intersection of I-4 and Daryl Carter Parkway, Alamo Drafthouse Orlando is a ten screen dine-in theater with approximately 942 luxury recliners and an attached full-service bar and restaurant. The theater is expected to open in 2020.

“Our goal at Alamo Drafthouse is to be the best theater imaginable for the community. We do this by providing great food and drinks along with exceptional presentation and a diverse spectrum of programming and events,” says Alamo Drafthouse founder and CEO Tim League. “We can’t wait to make it to Orlando, especially my two seven-year-olds who finally want to go along on Dad’s business trips."

“Bringing this premium entertainment concept to Vineland Pointe helps fulfill our vision for a true experiential destination,” said Bill O’Connor, CEO of O’Connor Capital Partners. “Our goal is to create a compelling mix of entertainment and retail to serve the needs of the community as well as Orlando visitors.”

Alamo Drafthouse Orlando will showcase the very best new releases, iconic special events, and a delicious food and drink menu served at a guest’s seat. Each auditorium will be equipped with top-of-the-line digital 4K projection and dynamic surround sound, and fully outfitted with luxury recliners that are equipped with footrests, ensuring each seat in the house offers a viewing experience of unparalleled comfort.

The new theater will also feature The Big Show, Alamo Drafthouse’s Premium Large Format concept that showcases the very best presentation standards available today, including Dolby Atmos’ immersive sound technology and a laser projection system. Continuing the company’s commitment to preserving 35mm, Alamo Drafthouse Orlando will also feature 35mm changeover projection so that both classic films and new releases can be experienced in glorious celluloid.

Alamo Drafthouse’s much-loved repertory programming will also make its way to Orlando, like Movie Party celebrations of classic favorites like ELF, PRINCESS BRIDE, and GHOSTBUSTERS, deep dives into classic movies, documentaries and foreign language films as well as family-friendly choices like low-cost “Kids Camp” screenings that raise money for local nonprofits and schools.

Members of Alamo Victory will be the first to know about grand opening events at the theater, and they’ll also be entered to win free movies for a year at Alamo Drafthouse Orlando.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

Founded in 1997, Alamo Drafthouse has been heralded for unique programming events, great food and drinks, and high exhibition standards, earning accolades including “Best Theater Ever” by Time Magazine and “The Coolest Theater in the World” by Wired. A September 2018 Market Force Information survey of nearly 13,000 moviegoers across the country gave Alamo Drafthouse the #1 ranking for Favorite Movie Theater, Best Service, and all food and beverage-related categories.

Alamo Drafthouse provides a unique combination of theater and restaurant, showing first-run movies, independent films and special events with an extensive menu made from scratch. Guests order all food and drinks from servers who quietly attend to them throughout the movie from inside the theater. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the pre-show entertainment. Instead of a barrage of advertising, Alamo Drafthouse shows a curated collection of rare and humorous clips themed to each feature.

Additionally, Alamo Drafthouse protects the theatrical experience with a zero tolerance policy for people who disrupt the film with talking or texting. Alamo Drafthouse’s “Don’t Talk” PSAs have frequently received national attention, and have featured former Texas Governor Ann Richards, Jeff Goldblum and a velociraptor, Georgie from IT, THE ROOM director and star Tommy Wiseau, and one very angry voicemail.
