Wireless Zone® and Kyocera to Support Autism Speaks Throughout April

MIDDLETOWN, CONN. (PRWEB) March 29, 2019 - National Giving Month may have come and gone, but one franchise brand is eager to continue giving back. April is World Autism Month, and wireless retail brand Wireless Zone® is partnering with Kyocera International Inc.’s Communications Equipment Group to donate to Autism Speaks, an organization dedicated to research, advocacy and support of people with autism.

Throughout the month of April, all Wireless Zone® stores will be collecting donations to support the mission of Autism Speaks, which is a core charity of the Wireless Zone® Foundation for Giving. In addition, the brand’s supplier partner, Kyocera, has agreed to donate $5 for each Kyocera phone sold at a Wireless Zone® location during the month of April. With U.S. stores throughout the upper Midwest, East Coast and Texas, there are nearly 370 Wireless Zone® locations at which customers can shop or donate.

Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of people with autism and their families. World Autism Month activities are aimed at increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism to create a more inclusive world. As autism spectrum disorder affects 1 in 59 children and their families, including the families of both Wireless Zone®’s and Kyocera’s staff; this organization remains a core charity of the Wireless Zone® Foundation for Giving.

Kyocera’s line of wireless phones are designed to provide the consumer with a high quality and durable device. Kyocera’s DuraForce PRO 2 is a rugged 4G LTE Android smartphone featuring a Verizon- exclusive 5-inch Sapphire Shield Display, which is virtually scratch proof. DuraForce PRO 2 is IP68 dustproof and waterproof (to 6.5ft deep for up to 30 minutes), and meets Military-Standard 810G criteria for protection against shock/impact, vibration, temperature extremes, solar radiation, humidity, and much more. Made with Japanese precision and quality, and backed by a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty, DuraForce PRO 2 is designed for business and enterprise use, especially construction, public safety and transportation as well as adventure-seeking consumers. The Kyocera Cadence LTE for Verizon is a sleek, easy-to-use flip phone designed to get the basics right, providing a simplified phone experience without sacrificing quality. A purchase of any Kyocera model during April at a Wireless Zone® store will automatically generate a $5 donation to Autism Speaks.

Along with providing advocacy and support, Autism Speaks works to advance research, increase the early childhood screening and timely interventions, and improve the transition to adulthood. “This World Autism Month, we are so grateful for the support of Wireless Zone® and Kyocera,” said Autism.

Speaks President and CEO Angela Geiger. “We’re focused every day on creating a more inclusive world for people with autism, and we couldn’t do it without partners like these whose generosity is making a true impact.”

“Kyocera has a decades-long history of strong corporate giving around the world,” said Robert Clark, National Consumer Sales Manager, Kyocera International, Inc.’s Communications Equipment Group. “We’re honored to work with Wireless Zone® to raise funds for autism, a spectrum disorder that has affected many of our own employees’ families as well as countless consumers. The wireless industry has done a lot to help ensure devices can be used by a wide range of users, regardless of ability, but financial contributions are crucial to helping organizations like Autism Speaks provide important services.”

“Autism Speaks is one of the core charities that the Wireless Zone® Foundation for Giving supports annually. We are so grateful to Kyocera’s management team for recognizing the important work this organization is doing, and for generously supporting and supplementing the fundraising efforts that each Wireless Zone® store is doing for Autism Speaks,” said Wireless Zone Chief Information Officer and President of Wireless Zone® Foundation for Giving, Brian Murtari.

About Autism

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. We now know that there is not one autism but many subtypes, and each person with autism can have unique strengths and challenges. A combination of genetic and environmental factors influence the development of autism, and autism often is accompanied by medical issues such as GI disorders, seizures and sleep disturbances.
