theCoderSchool to Open First Columbus Location

Silicon Valley-based children’s coding franchise heads to Ohio

May 02, 2019 // // Palo Alto, CA - theCoderSchool - whose motto is “Learn to code. Change the world.” - is expanding into Ohio. The school - which aims to show the next generation of kids how inspiring and exciting technology can be - is set to open its first Columbus area location in May.

The new school is located at 6075 Chandler Court in Westerville, Ohio and will be owned and operated by Patrick and Ming Tee and Lieng Pho.

“We are thrilled to introduce theCoderSchool to Central Ohio,” Patrick said. “We believe coding is the future for younger generations and had been searching for a coding school to send our own children to that was not a gimmick and would be personalized to each of our children. Because we are so passionate about coding education, we decided to bring Silicon Valley’s number one coding school to our own community.”

The partners met and became friends when attending Ohio State University and grew even closer years later after having children and living down the street from each other. With backgrounds in corporate America, Patrick, Ming and Lieng were all interested in technology and its impact on everyone’s lives, but especially children. When they couldn’t find a coding school for their own children to attend, they decided to take it upon themselves and open one.

“We chose to open theCoderSchool because we really resonate with the concept of creating a fun environment for kids to learn coding without a strict curriculum,” added Pho. “Our school will enrich the lives of kids in a fun way while preparing them for the future world immersed in technology.”

“Coding will be an essential skill for future generations as they head into the workforce,” said Ming. “Not only will it be important in areas such as Silicon Valley, but in our own community. We want to prepare our local students for their futures as best as we can.”

Founded by Hansel Lynn and incubated with the help of his best friend, Wayne Teng, theCoderSchool was built with the desire to provide children aged 7 to 18 years with a welcoming environment to develop computer programming skills. theCoderSchool uses a variety of platforms to teach various coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, Python, Javascript and more. Every Code Coaching lesson is customized with the help of trained Code Coaches® who use a 2-on-1 approach to teaching.

“As we continue to expand our presence throughout the country, it’s critical to find the right franchise partners who are truly passionate about setting kids up with a positive, life-long relationship with technology and coding,” added Lynn. “This is why we couldn’t be more excited about welcoming Patrick, Ming and Lieng to theCoderSchool team. They care deeply about this mission, and we are confident they will bring our level of commitment to kids and parents in the Central Ohio area and show the community just how fun learning to code can be.”

theCoderSchool is also a proud founding member of the International Alliance of Youth Coding Educators. The IAYCE is an alliance of global partners whose goal is to further coding education for youth around the world.
