Salon Plaza Nets Landmark Development Deal with NBA Champion Chauncey Billups

First Detroit-Area Location Now Open in Southfield; Billups to Build Dozens More Across the Country

July 23, 2019 // Franchising.com // SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Salon Plaza just inked a game-changing development agreement with “Mr. Big Shot,” NBA Star Chauncey Billups.

The slam-dunk deal that the nation’s leading salon suite franchise for independent cosmetologists recently announced is a multi-unit agreement with NBA Champion Billups. A five-time NBA All-Star, the investment in Salon Plaza will provide business ownership opportunities for thousands of beauty and health professionals, starting with Detroit. Salon Plaza was a natural fit for Billups, who is a lifelong entrepreneur passionate about inspiring others to reach their career potential.

Billups’ first Detroit-based location, conveniently located within Southfield Plaza (29706 Southfield Rd.), opened this week and includes a collection of private, spacious suites for a variety of independent hairstylists, locticians, nail technicians and estheticians. A grand opening celebration complete with entertainment from 97.9 The Beat, suite tours and public appearances from Chauncey and his wife Piper, is scheduled for August 12, 2019.

Under Billups’ direction, the Salon Plaza of Southfield management team will lease suites to a variety of established professionals, who Salon Plaza warmly refers to as its members. Members are provided with local and national marketing support, business operations support, suite and building maintenance, and support with business development, among other services central to building a profitable and long-lasting business.

From his celebrated basketball-playing career through today, which includes his recurring appearances as an ESPN NBA-analyst, Billups continues to build a business empire off the court by strategically investing in legendary brands. One of his better-known successes includes owning and operating more than 30 Wendy’s locations in the greater St. Louis market. Salon Plaza was the clear choice for Billups as he looked to break into the fast-growing salon sector, as the brand’s philosophy runs parallel to his community-driven personal and professional values.
