Best in Class Education Center Comes to Torrance

Supplemental education center opening third Los Angeles location, Eyes as many as 10 total centers in the region in the coming years

October 07, 2019 // Franchising.com // Bellevue, Wash. - Best in Class Education Center - a key player in the $7 billion tutoring industry - is coming to town, providing added learning to the students in Torrance, California and the surrounding South Bay area.

The new education center will be located at 20112 Anza Avenue and is owned and operated by local couple Vanita and Sanket Agrawal, who are almost 20-year residents. The new center is the third in Los Angeles County. Company plans call for as many as 10 additional locations that Best in Class hopes to open throughout Los Angeles County in the coming years.

“I am thrilled to introduce Best in Class to the South Bay community,” said Vanita. “Raising our children, getting involved in academic activities, we saw the value of enrichment programs in preparing kids to excel. My husband and I therefore made a commitment to bring unique opportunities to the South Bay to serve our community. Best in Class truly is the best in supplemental education. The curriculum is very comprehensive and includes math, critical thinking and writing, among other crucial skills. We understand the critical role education plays in opening opportunities, and we hope to offer avenues for local students to further develop their potential through Best in Class and overcome barriers.”

Originally from Delhi, India, Vanita relied on education to break her personal barriers as the first female in her family to attend university in addition to being the first in her generation to attend professional school, go overseas for graduate school, and build a corporate career. She found a love of mathematics that propelled her to achieve an engineering degree from Delhi University. She earned a master’s degree in finance from the University of Toronto before working in the banking sector. She moved to Los Angeles in 2000 and has stayed ever since working in corporate America as a finance executive. Sanket shares her passion for education “so much that we earned our bachelor’s and master’s degrees together.” He added, “It starts early; the foundation must be strong.”

“Education has changed my life by affording me opportunities to live globally and pursue my dreams,” said Vanita. “Now it is time to give back. I want to help others achieve their dreams.”

“Mom has always been passionate about education and community service,” added her middle-school daughter, Vanya. “Now she has brought these two passions together through Best in Class.”

Founded in 1995 and franchising since 2011, Best in Class is a premium education center providing supplemental education and committed to building students’ foundational knowledge and critical thinking skills. Courses include mathematics, reading & writing, private tutoring, gifted test prep, SAT/ACT prep, and more. Students also benefit from individual attention, active instruction in small groups, and engaging course material aligned with common standards.

“Our primary focus is to help students improve more than just their grades and test scores. We are dedicated to encouraging students to develop critical thinking and analytical skills that will prepare them for a lifetime of learning,” said Sanket. “We love the diversity and achievement culture of this community and know Best in Class will make a difference here.”

The local expansion comes at a time when Best in Class continues to rapidly expand its national footprint. Today, the Seattle-based franchise has more than 60 locations in 13 states, nearly one-third of which have opened since the beginning of last year alone.
