Senior Helpers of The Villages Adds Full Time Registered Nurse to Support Local Families Amid Global Health Crisis

Leading in-home care provider welcomes registered nurse to advance staff education and protocols related to infection control

May 01, 2020 // Franchising.com // BUNNELL, FLA. - Senior Helpers®, one of the nation’s premier providers of personalized in-home care, today announced Deborah (Deb) Brown, RN, will join its team at Senior Helpers of The Villages as a full time Registered Nurse to serve and support Florida-area seniors and their families. With more than 20 years’ experience in private duty, in-home care agency protocol development and implementation, as well as direct care staff training, management and oversight, Brown will advance the agency’s existing tools to offer its clients premium and safe care during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

“Especially during these uncertain times, we are very pleased to leverage Deb’s expertise in in-home care best practices and protocols to ensure that our staff is optimally trained and prepared to safely and effectively care for our vulnerable clients in their homes,” said Bernie Fitzgerald, owner of Senior Helpers of The Villages. “Her deep understanding of clinical best practices, along with her unrelenting attention to delivering top quality direct patient care, gives us the proficiency we need to best serve and protect our clients and staff when they need it most.”

Brown brings with her deep knowledge and understanding of in-home care to deliver expert training skills and assessments for agency administrative and in-home direct care staff (e.g. CNAs, HHAs) in critical areas, such as infection control, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), nutrition, and Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s care. The addition of a full time Registered Nurse to supplement Senior Helpers’ existing Staying Home Safe Program and proprietary Life Profiles patient scoring assessment tool uniquely positions the company with an elevated focus on quality clinical care, specifically designed to reduce or prevent patient readmission to hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.

“I am honored and excited to join the team at Senior Helpers of The Villages and offer my experience, passion and knowledge to this community, which has been classified high-risk during this crisis by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),” added Brown. “It is my hope to add tremendous value to the incredible operations already in place at Senior Helpers so that every client and their families feel safe and amply supported.”

Brown will be based out of the company’s Bunnell location and will also provide support for the Senior Helpers office located in Leesburg, Florida. Combined, these two offices service more than 150 clients in their homes across nine Florida counties, including Alachua, Bradford, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Putnam, St. Johns, Sumter and Volusia.
