Brand New Kids Coding School to Open Virtually Amid COVID-19 Crisis in Central New Jersey

The number one, Silicon Valley-based after-school coding program set to open in Montgomery to keep kids engaged while at home

May 12, 2020 // Franchising.com // Montgomery, NJ. - theCoderSchool Montgomery - whose motto is “Learn to code. Change the world.” - is unveiling their newest location a bit differently than they would have expected months ago. The new Montgomery business is planning a virtual opening to the community in June and is highly anticipating kids onsite in the future.

The school - which aims to show the next generation of kids how inspiring and exciting technology can be - is thrilled to open virtually to be a resource for parents trying to keep their kids engaged through the COVID-19 crisis. The local owners also see this as an opportunity to prepare kids for their future, while learning in a fun way.

Located at 21 Belle Mead Griggstown Road, Suite 109 in Montgomery, the new school is owned by Michael and Dominique Young, who have two young children themselves and a passion for education. The pair were going to create their own education program for children, until they came upon theCoderSchool. Dominique’s years of working with companies like Scholastic, ACT, Lakeshore Learning and Crayola have added to the duo’s excitement to open their new coding school. The Young’s see their new location, located in a tech-forward community who values STEM learning experiences for kids, as an opportunity to expand on central New Jersey’s options for learning, but in a unique way.

“We firmly believe in theCoderSchool's philosophy and mission in providing high quality and individualized coding education for every student,” Dominque said. “Coding gives students the tools to not only learn new skills, but also learn how to express themselves in new and creative ways. Even though kids will be virtually learning for the time being theCoderSchool has been innovative and successful with the transition to online coding sessions and both kids and parents are loving it.”

Our education system is getting a reboot of its own as students of all ages stream their classes live. Hitting the virtual books means young people may find it harder to form those vital social ties in this new virtual reality. To keep kids healthy and safe, theCoderSchool Montgomery has created a safe online community built on good digital citizenship. Each 2:1 session is facilitated by a live, local Coding Coach on site which promotes social normalcy.

Remote coding sessions and virtual summer camps are planned to be available in mid to late June. In the virtual roll out at other locations across the United States kids are latching on automatically to the new way of learning online and not missing a beat.

“In our experience, technology is the future in almost every industry,” said Michael. “Providing kid’s access to early coding education will open up new opportunities in education and could set them up for a great career in the future. It’s never been more important to have a strong foundation in coding skills.”

Founded by Hansel Lynn and incubated with the help of his best friend, Wayne Teng, theCoderSchool was built with the desire to provide children aged 7 to 18 years with a welcoming environment to develop computer programming skills. theCoderSchool uses a variety of platforms to teach various coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, Python, JavaScript and more. Every Code Coaching lesson is customized with the help of trained Code Coaches® who use a 2-on-1 approach to teaching.

“As we continue to expand our presence throughout the country, it’s critical to find the right franchise partners who are truly passionate about setting kids up with a positive, life-long relationship with technology and coding,” added Lynn. “We couldn’t be more excited about working with Michael and Dominique. They are passionate about our mission and bring an incredible amount of experience to their school while emphasizing the creative and functional sides of coding.”
