Career Educator Esther Contreras Signs with Sylvan Learning, Bringing Leading Technology/Education Franchise Statewide Count to 23

The leading supplemental and enrichment education franchise has continued to appeal to franchisees by providing online learning resources and in-person school support for families adapting to school systems impacted by COVID-19.

IRVING, TEXAS (PRWEB) December  15, 2020 - Sylvan Learning, a leading provider of supplemental and enrichment education for students in grades K-12 with more than 750 points of presence worldwide, is now expanding its footprint to Irving, Texas with the signing of Esther Contreras and her husband John Mosqueda, who both have worked in education. This new signing brings the leading technology and education franchise statewide count to 23, with an opportunity to add 66 more locations.

Contreras has been an educator in Texas for over 27 years in positions ranging from dean of instruction to principal, working across the board with both at-risk and gifted students. In 2019, she retired, deciding she needed a break after her husband was involved in a major car accident and she herself became sick. Even in her time as an educator, Contreras knew she eventually wanted to open her own franchise - she just didn’t know which one.

This February, while looking for math and reading resources to help her 12-year-old son who struggles with dyslexia, Contreras came across Sylvan Learning. After discovering that she had the opportunity to franchise with the brand and familiarizing herself with the product, the career educator knew she’d found the perfect fit.

Now, amid a global pandemic, Contreras is in the process of opening her first brick-and-mortar Sylvan Learning center in Irving, Texas, with plans to eventually open a second location for virtual learning in Mesquite. She says that given her background, starting a business during this time hasn’t been intimidating to her, and she hopes her center will be a resource that students and parents can lean on as they continue to navigate the challenges that come along with virtual learning.

“Opening has certainly been a process, but it’s something that’s very familiar to me, having worked to open schools in the past,” said Contreras. “There are so many parents who need our assistance now more than ever. I am at home working with my son every day, spending time trying to help him through this. It was clear to me that now is the perfect time for a company like Sylvan. Parents need our expertise, and I’m confident that we can offer them that support - I want to be the answer that parents are looking for.”

For more than 40 years, Sylvan Learning has been focused on building academic confidence, igniting intellectual curiosity and inspiring a love for learning - all of which make a big impact in school and in life. Since its founding in 1979, Sylvan Learning has become the leading supplemental and enrichment education franchise in North America thanks to its mission-driven philosophy, educational technology, community-oriented approach and strong franchisee support infrastructure.

Because of its ongoing investment in technology solutions and breadth of content and delivery options provided in-center, in-home and online, Sylvan has been uniquely positioned to respond to parents’ needs in these challenging times. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sylvan Learning has worked hard to support parents. First, in March, Sylvan Learning introduced a virtual tutoring option as school districts transitioned to remote learning. he company is also continuing to utilize its proprietary software, SylvanSync™, which provides teachers and students with adaptive practice sessions. As the school year approached, the brand announced the launch of School Support, a program that provides a variety of services to help children stay on track and parents manage the complexities of this current school year.

“Esther will be able to make a difference in her community by bringing Sylvan Learning to the families of Irving and Mesquite, Texas,” said CEO John McAuliffe. “The Sylvan Learning system is stronger, more nimble and more united than ever. We have ramped up our already-strong training for instruction, local marketing and technology for our franchise owners and expanded our reach for families and students. There is more demand for our services than ever, and we are excited to continue partnering with qualified franchisees to bring Sylvan Learning to new areas across the country.”
