Goldfish Swim School - Rogers Earns Rock Star Recognition from Franchise Business Review

Fleming Family’s Passion for Water Safety Earns Them Prestigious Franchisee Recognition

July 27, 2021 // Franchising.com // ROGERS, AR - Goldfish Swim School, the leading premier learn-to-swim concept announced today that local franchisees Mark, Nici, Paula and Wade Fleming have been recognized by Franchise Business Review as a Family-Owned Franchise Rock Star. Each year, Franchise Business Review honors franchise owners who set exceptional examples for achieving success within the franchise model. This year’s Franchise Rock Stars were selected from over 25,000 franchisees, representing more than 220 brands that participated in Franchise Business Review’s research in the past 18 months.

The entrepreneurial husband and wife team, Mark and Nici Fleming alongside Mark’s parents Paula and Wade, took a leap of faith, moved across the country and decided to open a Goldfish Swim School in Rogers, AR all amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Flemings knew that opening the first Goldfish Swim School in the state of Arkansas would have a profound impact on not only their family, but on the thousands of families in their community whose children would benefit from learning crucial life-saving skills.

The pandemic hit right as the Flemings were planning the grand opening of their swim school. Despite the obstacles they faced, they stuck with the plan, knowing they were building toward something bigger than themselves. Driven by their passion and support from the Goldfish Swim School Franchise Office, the Flemings not only opened their swim school on-time, but in a safe and responsible manner that set the standard for aquatics facilities in the area. The vision always remained the same - create a safe, fun and welcoming environment for children to learn and grow.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by Franchise Business Review for this award,” said Mark Fleming. “Starting a family-owned business during a global pandemic can be a scary feat, but we realized there was nothing like Goldfish Swim School offered in the state of Arkansas, and knew we had an opportunity to teach children to be safer in and around the water in our area. We watch our children’s confidence blossom in the Goldfish pool, and are so lucky that now our family can help teach water safety skills to generations of children to come.”

Each member of the Fleming family holds an active role in daily operations. Nici and Mark handle marketing, hiring and lessons, Paula runs the Front Desk while Wade oversees Facility operations and is the swim school’s eldest Lifeguard instructor. It was extremely important for the Flemings to ensure that each member of the family owns a specific role within the business to set Goldfish Swim School - Rogers up for long-term success. Rounding out the leadership team at Goldfish Swim School is General Manager Jana Kennedy. Jana may not share the Fleming’s last name but she has quickly become an invaluable addition to the Goldfish family in Rogers.

The Franchise Rock Stars recognized were nominated by their franchise brand leadership teams in one of eight categories as franchisees who set admirable examples when it comes to leadership, business acumen, financial and professional success and contributing to their community. Categories included: Giving Back, Women, Millennials, Veterans, Family-Owned, “Freshman”, Top-Performers and Multi-Unit Owners.

“It makes us extremely happy when our franchisees are acknowledged for all that they do,” said Chris McCuiston, Co-Founder of Goldfish Swim School. “Goldfish Swim School started out as a family-owned business when my wife Jenny and I founded the school in 2006. The Fleming family’s passion for water safety is unparalleled and we could not be more proud that they represent the Goldfish Swim School family in the state of Arkansas.”

Progress is being made in the Fleming’s pool every day. Children in Arkansas are learning to respect the water, developing the courage to dive into new experiences and are having a lot of fun while they build confidence in their abilities to accomplish great things. The Fleming family is creating a positive ripple effect in Rogers.
