September 15, 2021 // Franchising.com // SANTA MONICA, Calif. - theCoderSchool - whose motto is “Learn to code. Change the world.” - is opening its first Santa Monica location for both in-person and virtual learning. The new school will be located at 2411 Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica, a block from Douglas Park and is set to open on September 18.

As part of their grand opening, the new school will offer a free one hour session and 40% off first month of coding for those who attending the grand opening event on Saturday, September 18.

The new school will be owned and operated by born and raised Beverly Hills native and current Santa Monica resident Teddy Amkie. Currently, he is the Co-Founder and CTO of a custom software and web development company, Stonecastle Development, Inc. Additionally, he has previously owned and operated a music instrument manufacturing company and F-16 flight simulation center. Amkie is no stranger to theCoderSchool, as he was a Code Coach at the Walnut Creek location and a manager of the Pleasanton school. Looking back at his past roles with the brand, he enjoyed providing a passion for coding to new students and those struggling to learn. Amkie is looking forward to having more of these experiences by opening his own theCoderSchool for his community in Santa Monica.

“I am incredibly excited to bring theCoderSchool experience to my local community,” stated Amkie. “I love teaching the next generation how to code and it's the main reason I decided to open a school of my own with the brand.”

Founded by Hansel Lynn and incubated with the help of his best friend, Wayne Teng, theCoderSchool was built to provide children aged 7 to 18 years with a welcoming environment to develop computer programming skills. theCoderSchool uses a variety of platforms to teach various coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, Python, Javascript and more. Every Code Coaching lesson is customized with the help of trained Code Coaches® who use a 2-on-1 approach to teaching.

“We are thrilled to have one of our Code Coaches open a theCoderSchool of their own,” stated Lynn. “Teddy’s passion for teaching our students is truly what our brand is all about and we look forward to seeing the great things he does for the community in Santa Monica.”
