American Freight Signs Multi-Unit Deal In Chicago

Furniture, Mattress and Appliance Retailer Awards Three Franchises to Multi-Unit Operator

September 29, 2021 // Franchising.com // American Freight, a leading furniture, mattress and appliance retailer, awarded Mohamad Atieh with three franchises across the Chicago area. The new locations will add to the company’s growing nationwide footprint of more than 360 stores across 40 states.

Atieh is a seasoned multi-unit operator with several brands in his portfolio, such as Sprint, 7-Eleven and Seafood Junction. He is from Syracuse, New York but is relocating to Chicago with his wife, which will give him more oversight on his new franchise venture.

“I first experienced American Freight as a customer, and it obviously resonated with me,” said Atieh. “From a customer point of view, I was impressed with the customer service, product assortment, fair pricing and delivery turnaround time. I also have a keen eye for businesses conducive to multi-unit franchising, so American Freight piqued my interest in that regard as well.”

“We’re excited to partner with Atieh to serve more communities across Chicago, a market that isn’t yet saturated with existing stores,” said Jon Phillips, Vice President of Business Development at American Freight. “Atieh’s deep understanding of multi-unit operations and customer service makes him a natural fit for our growing franchise program.”

American Freight Furniture and Mattress was established in Lima, Ohio, in 1994. The company grew to its current nationwide footprint by adding and rebranding nearly 130 former Sears Outlets and more than 30 former FFO Home locations in 2020. The rebrand expanded American Freight’s product assortment to include furniture, mattresses and appliances.

“We launched our franchise model late last year, and the overwhelming response and interest we’ve seen since then is very encouraging for the future of franchising with American Freight,” said Will Powell, CEO and President of American Freight. “On behalf of our entire team, we warmly welcome Atieh to the American Freight family and wish him success as he opens his network of stores in Chicago.”

American Freight was acquired by Franchise Group, Inc. in 2020. This year, the company has awarded 5 franchises and opened 16 new company stores. For more information or to inquire about franchising, visit OwnAmericanFreight.com.
