UNITS Moving and Portable Storage Teams up with Toys for Tots to Brighten Holidays for Children Across the Country

Company Generously Donates Tens of Thousands of Dollars’ Worth of Storage Containers to Assist with Toy Collection

December 14, 2021 // Franchising.com // CHARLESTON, S.C. - UNITS Moving and Portable Storage, a franchise brand in the moving and portable storage industry, is proud to once again join forces with one of the nation’s largest charities to help brighten the holidays for thousands of children across the country.  Each year UNITS donates storage containers to Toys for Tots, the popular program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve, which collects toys for underprivileged children during the holiday season.

2021 is one of the largest efforts ever, with storage containers placed in strategic locations nationwide including Northern Virginia, Utah, Tampa, Greater Philadelphia and Delaware, and the Dallas Fort Worth area. UNITS of Northern Virginia’s donation alone amounts to 30 containers for a cash value of $30,000.

“This is something we look forward to doing every year,” said Kris Kay, Manager of UNITS of Northern Virginia. “Watching over a dozen storage containers fill up with toys is a joy and shows just how generous our community is. We are honored to be a part of this terrific tradition.”

This is the fourth year of this incredible partnership between UNITS and Toys for Tots. Each year the need for storage grows, with UNITS stepping up to fill the demand.

“Our business is built on providing extra space for people who need it, and it’s humbling to be able to see our storage containers used in this way,” said Michael McAlhany, CEO of UNITS Moving and Portable Storage. “We are thrilled when Toys for Tots asks for more containers because it means more children will have a happy holiday. This is one of the best things we get to do all year.”

Since 1947, Toys for Tots has collected more than 600 million toys supporting 272 million children. The charity depends on generous donations from businesses, like UNITS, to make the massive toy drive a yearly success.

“This kind of donation can often go overlooked, but this toy drive would not be possible without space to store the many toys, so these storage containers are critical to our success,” said Ted Silvester, Toys for Tots Vice President of Marketing and Development. “We can’t thank the UNITS team enough for stepping up to help in crucial collection spots across the country.”

UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage is a franchise that provides self-storage, on-site storage, local and long-distance moves to clients across the country.

In addition to clean and affordable moving and storage solutions, the ROBO Delivery System can deliver containers in tight apartment spaces, narrow alleys, and urban parking spots that other companies cannot reach with the container and the goods inside staying parallel to the ground at all times.  Once customers load their items, the ROBO Delivery System picks up their container, and either stores it in UNITS’ climate-controlled warehouse or delivers it to the customer’s desired location.
