Former Tuscaloosa County Principal Takes Ownership of Children’s Lighthouse in Hoover

Educator With Over a Decade of Experience in Education to Lead Early Learning School in Hoover

April 14, 2022 // Franchising.com // HOOVER, Ala. - Children’s Lighthouse Early Learning Schools™ announced today that its Hoover location is under the new ownership of local resident Dr. Ira Lee Sullivan.

“I wanted to embark on a new challenge,” said Sullivan. “Owning my own school has been a dream of mine for a long time and now I get to do that in a community I’ve called home for the last 17 years.”

Sullivan is not only a Hoover native, but also has more than a decade of experience in education- first as a 3rd and 5th grade teacher at McAdory Elementary in Jefferson County and then at Matthews Elementary in Tuscaloosa County. He later served as Vice Principal and Principal at Maxwell Elementary in Tuscaloosa County. He believes early education is of the utmost importance in childhood development and laying a foundation so students can flourish is an invaluable experience that every child should be able to have. His background in education is what influenced Sullivan to take over as the new owner of the Hoover school.

“Dr. Ira is the perfect person to take ownership of our Hoover school and continue our brand promise of creating a safe, fun and happy place that gives children confidence, a sense of comfort today and a lifelong love of learning, friendship and community,” said Michael Brown, President of Children’s Lighthouse Franchise Company. “His experience in education and sets him up for success and we look forward to supporting him as he takes on this new role with Children’s Lighthouse.”

With the experience he already has and the support of existing staff including Director Jasmine Thompson and Assistant Director Chrissy VanHousen, Sullivan is ready to take on this new challenge with what he believes to be a “Class A franchise.” He is looking forward to creating deeper connections with the students of Children’s Lighthouse and its community.
