Experienced Restaurateur Continues Expansion of Florida’s Favorite Italian Ice Concept

April 20, 2022 // Franchising.com // LIGHTHOUSE POINT, Fla. - Orlando-based Jeremiah’s Italian Ice will soon be scooping up its iconic frozen treats in Lighthouse Point with the announcement of the brand’s newest location to open in the area. Slated to open in late-April, the new Jeremiah’s Italian Ice will be located at 3650 N Federal Hwy. in the Venetian Isle Shopping Center. The new shop will be owned by longtime business partners and South Florida residents, John Kontos and Nicolas Leblanc.

This is the first location the business partners intend on opening in the area, with plans to open at least three additional locations in the near future. The new Jeremiah’s Italian Ice will offer guests both indoor and outdoor seating, a walkup window, and 3rd party delivery services in the upcoming months. The shop’s location close to the beach makes it a perfect family-friendly destination for local residents and beach-goers looking to enjoy a frozen treat of the highest quality.

Both business partners have previous entrepreneurial experience; Kontos through owning full-service restaurants in the U.S. and Leblanc, through the ownership of gelato establishments in France. When the duo first discovered Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, they were impressed by the deep-rooted culture of the brand and knew they wanted to once again, merge their expertise to invest in their own franchise location. They now hope to leverage the family-oriented culture of the brand and use their new business to play an active part in the Lighthouse Point community.

“I’ve been in the restaurant business for over 40 years and have never encountered a concept that was passionate about local communities in the way Jeremiah’s Italian Ice is,” said Kontos. “We can’t wait to use our business to play a bigger role here locally and create new lifelong fans of our Italian Ice products.”

Each Jeremiah’s location boasts an upbeat atmosphere full of vibrant colors and offers over 40 flavors of indulgent, high-quality Italian Ice, as well as rich and creamy Soft Ice Cream. The Jeremiah’s Gelati, which features layers of Italian Ice and Soft Ice Cream, offer nearly limitless flavor combinations and is the star of their menu.

“After owning ice cream and gelato shops in France, I’m no stranger to the frozen treat category and the Jeremiah’s product itself is what really stuck out to me,” said Leblanc. “It’s the perfect treat to enjoy in South Florida’s weather and we know our new location will be a hit in Lighthouse Point.”

Kontos and Leblanc say they are currently working to establish partnership opportunities with local schools, churches, and community organizations. The opening of the brand’s newest location in Lighthouse Point marks the next step in the Jeremiah’s Italian Ice expansion throughout The Sunshine State.
