Back to school with confidence

August 16, 2022 // Franchising.com // Whether it is the effects of the pandemic or the fact that we are talking more about mental health, the feedback that we have received from parents is that children are struggling with their confidence.

Adjusting back to school and exams and the pressures that some children feel from social media are factors that can easily knock a young person’s self-belief. But there’s plenty that families can do to encourage their children to build resilience and find their inner confidence.

“I just wanted to say another huge thank you for everything you’ve done for our daughter. I saw my happy, confident girl on that stage, a side of her that’s sometimes becoming overshadowed by anxieties. I was truly blown away with her confidence, considering her worries. Today was a core parenting memory for me, so thank you for helping that happen,” parent review from Razzamataz Leighton Buzzard.

“When children walk through the doors at Razzamataz, they can really leave any troubles behind and focus on having a great time while getting fit and active,” says Denise Hutton-Gosney, MD and Founder of Razzamataz. “We have many students that go on and work professionally in the industry as cast members of West End shows and on TV and radio and we also have many students that used their time at Razzamataz to discover the person that they were meant to be.”

Daniela Dawkins is currently a primary school teacher after finding a passion for fitness and coaching children. “When I first started at Razzamataz I was very shy and really didn’t want to leave my mum,” says former student Daniela. “Razzamataz taught me to push myself out of my comfort zone. Through performing in the annual shows, I became more confident in myself and what I could achieve.”

Razzamataz Theatre Schools offer classes in West End and Broadway musical theatre styles as well as the commercial genre, which focusses on acting for camera, street dance and pop singing. As well as the classes, there is a huge emphasis on providing additional opportunities, so students receive a complete performing arts experience. This includes workshops with industry professionals, the opportunity to perform on iconic stages as well as local performances and the chance to audition for a unique scholarship that provides financial assistance for those looking to take their performing arts to the next level.

“The most important part of the Razzamataz journey is that children have fun, make new friends and are given an opportunity to shine,” adds Denise. “We believe through every large and small opportunity; students will develop their confidence with the support of our dedicated teams of teachers and Principals.”

As part of the network’s commitment to make performing arts accessible to as many children as possible, the schools offer a unique 50% sibling discount and there are many scholarship opportunities, including a year’s free tuition sponsored by The Stage newspaper.
