Buddy’s Home Furnishings Awards 15 Locations To Franchise Owners Across The Nation

August 23, 2022 // Franchising.com // ORLANDO, FLA. - Buddy’s Home Furnishings, a retailer specializing in the sales and rental ownership of furniture, electronics, appliances and home accessories, ended the second quarter with 15 franchises awarded and 17 new franchise locations opened since January. The forthcoming locations will be spread across Virginia, Oklahoma and Alabama, and add to the company’s growing footprint of more than 325 locations nationwide.

Buddy Mac Holdings, LLC (BMH), one of Buddy’s largest multi-unit franchise operators with 82 stores across six states, was awarded two locations.

Ian MacDonald is the President and CEO of BMH. “We keep growing because we’re well supported by the Buddy’s team, and our people continue to be the foundation of our success.”

Patrick Ruland, a former Ashley HomeStore supplier and new franchise owner to Buddy’s, was awarded two locations in Alabama. “I was familiar with Buddy’s from working in the rent-to-own industry but never knew the benefits that came with franchise ownership. Now that I am a franchise owner, I can confidently say that their company-wide support and systematic approach to store openings and daily operations are the foundation of running multiple, successful locations.”

Kappa Investments, LLC, another multi-unit operator with Buddy’s, was awarded four locations and opened two new stores in Madison Heights and Bedford, Virginia. The new locations bring the operator’s total store count to six, with two more Virginia locations in development.

“Their system is turnkey,” said Jerry Marshall, owner of Kappa Investments. “Doing business with a team backed by more than 60 years of experience makes the process seamless from start to end, which has allowed us to continue to expand. The systems they have in place truly make all the difference.”

WRE, LLC was awarded six locations in Virginia and signed an agreement to convert their existing rent-to-own locations to Buddy’s storefronts. The existing Virginia stores, previously known as Hometown Sales & Leasing, are located in South Hill, Blackstone, Ashland, Smithfield, Kilmarnock and Farmville.

WRE, LLC is owned by Robert Smith and Ernie Thompson and has operated in Virginia since 2002. “In the past, balancing backend and operational issues along with merchandising has been a challenge,” said Thompson. “Thanks to the support of the team behind Buddy’s, we’ll now be freed up to focus more on our valued customers and supplying the community with everyday necessities.”

bebe stores, inc., a Buddy’s multi-unit operator with 62 stores across more than 10 states, was awarded two units, both of which are open in Alabama.

Martin Fontela, Chief Operating Officer at bebe, reveals, “With the right mixture of structure and flexibility, Buddy’s empowers its franchise owners while allowing them to be a creative partner in the franchising process. We see several strategic acquisition and organic growth opportunities in the marketplace right now, and Buddy's has the right support and systems in place to help us expand."

“With more than 100 stores in the development pipeline, there’s no better time than now to claim your territory,” said Mitchell Lee, Buddy’s Director of Franchise Development. “Customers will always need an affordable way to attain home necessities, which is the value franchise candidates see in our essential, recession-resistant and scalable franchise model.”

Since adopting the franchising model in early 2009, Buddy’s has established a strong history of multi-unit success, with 88% of all Buddy’s franchisees operating two or more locations.

“We’re one of the fastest growing rent-to-own franchises in America with a 60-year legacy of proven success,” said Michael Bennett, Buddy’s CEO. “We’ve developed a turnkey system for Buddy’s franchise owners to scale their business with ease, which is why they come back for more. We look forward to supporting their continued growth and working together to bring communities across the nation an affordable way to attain home necessities.”
