Waters Edge Winery & Bistro of Norfolk Wins ‘Best Overall Wine’ at Hampton Wine & Spirit Expo

May 16, 2024 // Franchising.com // NORFOLK, Va. - Waters Edge Winery & Bistro of Norfolk, a winery owned and operated by local residents Jason and Dyan Witt, recently received the ‘Best Overall Wine’ award for its Stormy Blue Pineapple Pear Sangria at the Hampton Wine & Spirit Expo. This award is the local micro-winery’s second of the year, being honored as the ‘Best Overall Winery’ at Coastal Virginia Magazine’s 2024 WineFest in February.

“We’re humbled to have received another notable award, this time for one of our favorite wines that we produce,” said Jason Witt, winemaker at Waters Edge Winery & Bistro of Norfolk. “Our northern Virginia community means everything to us, and we’re honored that what we do every day brings joy to wine lovers, both new and experienced, while showcasing our love for the craft itself.”

The Hampton Wine & Spirit Expo is an annual event that brings together wine lovers from all over the region to sample some of the best wines produced in Virginia and beyond.

A Navy veteran, Witt is proud to run the only veteran-owned winery in the Norfolk area. The craft winery’s Stormy Blue Pineapple Pear Sangria is in collaboration with local Norfolk Navy Veteran influencer Stormy Blue. The sangria features a Pinot Grigio base with the essence of pineapples and pears, and it is available for purchase by the glass or bottle at Waters Edge Winery & Bistro of Norfolk for $10/glass or $30/bottle.

Waters Edge Winery of Norfolk serves as a unique and customized experience for novice and expert wine enthusiasts. All wines are made in-house with popular selections such as Merlots, Cabernets and Chardonnays. The winery also makes harder-to-find wines more accessible, offering varieties such as Italian Montepulciano & Sangiovese, Armenian Areni & Serini and Viognier, in addition to offering over a dozen varieties of fruit sangrias, with flavors ranging from pomegranate to raspberry peach and toasted coconut. Waters Edge Winery & Bistro of Norfolk sources grapes globally, allowing it to make over 40 different kinds of wine using grapes from the best grape-growing regions in the world – including California, Italy, France, Australia, Chile and Armenia.

Waters Edge Winery & Bistro of Norfolk is located at 6464 Hampton Blvd., Norfolk, Virgina. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 7 p.m.
