A natural-born problem solver, Dr. Meisler knows a winning idea when he hears one. PetWellClinic, launched in 2010, was inspired by his wife's suggestion after she read a New York Times article on the rise of retail walk-in community healthcare clinics by companies like Walgreens and CVS.
"My wife turned to me and asked, 'Why couldn't we do that for veterinary care?'" Dr. Meisler recalls.
Building on the success of PetWellClinic's corporate location, the Knoxville, Tennessee-based brand embraced franchising in 2020, partnering with franchise development pros Oakscale to fuel growth.
Entrepreneurs and seasoned multi-unit franchise owners alike are flocking to the brand. Detroit natives Jake Atchoo and Blake George, owners of three Goldfish Swim Schools, recently inked a 10-unit deal to expand PetWellClinic in the greater Detroit area.

Clinics are designed to be open and transparent, allowing clients to view everything happening from the front of the clinic to the back as dogs and cats receive essential services such as general check-ups, vaccines, and treatments for minor ailments and chronic conditions. The proprietary veterinary software program, developed by Dr. Sam Meisler, provides operators with seamless clinic processes and maximized efficiencies.

"We've been doing this for 12 years now, and our systems are in place," Dr. Meisler says. "We don't always want to recreate the wheel, but we won't necessarily do something just because that's how it's done in franchising. We also want to remain humble because there are always things to learn."
