Phenix Salon Suites Soars With Explosive Growth, Attracting Multi-Unit Developers

Phenix Salon Suites is experiencing a surge in growth as existing franchise owners reinvest in the leading salon suite concept. With several multi-unit development agreements inked in new and existing markets from coast to coast, all signs point to a company on the rise.

The scalable B2B concept allows investors to dive into franchising as a side business, prepare for their own retirement, or add to a portfolio of existing franchise brands. Their proven concept offers franchisees simple buildouts with flexible real estate conditions while requiring very limited staff and no inventory.

“Franchisees are essentially sub-landlords that focus in the health, wellness, and beauty industries,” says Brian Kelley, president & CEO of Phenix Salon Suites. “The concept works as a semi-absentee structure with little overhead.” He says the brand is seeing many C-suite level executives looking to diversify their income with supplemental opportunities. The Phenix Salon Suites model is perfectly built for that.

At its core, Phenix Salon Suites is a property management concept that offers salon and lifestyle professionals the opportunity to have their own salon suite within a larger, well-located salon. The brand licenses individualized suites so professionals can service their clients in a safe and secure environment. Franchise owners simply maintain the space and collect rent from tenants.

The brand has proven its resiliency and was virtually unphased by the pandemic. In fact, over the past two years, says Kelley, the company actually saw a 600 percent increase in salon professionals coming to the brand’s website looking for a suite to rent.

Meanwhile, the brand has grown to more than 330 locations in 33 states and has expanded internationally into the U.K. and soon in Sweden. The brand sold 83 international licenses in 2021, says Kelley, and is currently looking for franchise partners in Spain, Germany and beyond. Back in the States, Phenix Salon Suites racked up 64 new license signings in 2021 and has already sold 40 licenses this year through April.

Kelley says the company is actively looking for investors to help grow the brand. Though C-suite executives have been frequent franchisee candidates, he says all walks of life have been successful as franchisees and anyone with real estate or retail experience and a solid marketing background can excel with the brand. “There’s no salon experience necessary,” he says. Multi-unit franchisees with other brands and strong infrastructures in place are also great candidates for Phenix Salon Suites franchisees.

Existing Phenix Salon Suites franchise owners aren’t just watching the company grow, they’re also validating the brand by reinvesting. Several of the brand’s franchisees are signing on for more locations each year. That’s undeniably a sign of a healthy franchise brand. “We’re seeing an uptick in 3 to 5 multi-unit deals signed over the last 6 months,” says Kelley.

Looking ahead, Kelley said the brand has a goal to sell 80 licenses this year, open 50 to 60 locations, and even execute three more international deals. In addition, the brand remains hyper-focused on supporting its franchisees at every step of their journey.

Phenix Salon Suites has been recognized nine years in a row on Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 list and also ranked among the top 100 on Entrepreneur's Fastest-Growing Franchise list for the eighth year in a row. The brand is acknowledged as an industry leader and has franchise opportunities available in a number of key markets throughout the United States and abroad.
