Rockland/Walpole, Massachusetts Entrepreneurs Provide Aging Population with Service 'Right' In Their Home: Right at Home Offers Affordable Senior Care

Rockland, MA – As the first baby boomers reach 60 this year, they are faced with a dilemma that no other generation has been faced with before: how to care for their aging parents while trying to balance the responsibilities of their own busy lives. With the number of seniors in America expected to double to 70 million in the near future, caring for an aging loved one is becoming even more difficult.

The need for in-home care in the Boston area is so substantial that two local entrepreneurs, Libet and Frank Callahan, and Jim and Sandy Pellegrine recently opened Right at Home franchises in Rockland and Walpole Massachusetts to help alleviate this problem. The concept offers in-home supportive care and assistance to seniors and other adults so they can continue to live independently, rather than being relocated to an assisted living center or nursing home.

For as little as a few hours per week to as much as 24-hours a day, Right at Home offers a variety of highly personalized and flexible home care services, provided by trained caregivers, at reasonable rates. Services offered include light housework, meal preparation, medication reminders, shopping and errands, laundry, local transportation, companionship and more.

"There is a tremendous need for Right at Home services on the South Shore because of the great number of seniors in this area," said Frank Callahan. "As seniors age and require more assistance, many are forced to nursing homes for care. Our in-home companion and homemaker services allow these seniors the opportunity to remain in the comfort of their own homes for as long as possible."

Libet Callahan, RN, is well known in the area for her compassionate care and extensive community nursing experience with the local VNA and hospice organizations. As a clinical nurse who provided in-home care to patients, Libet witnessed on a daily basis the importance of the home environment on quality of life issues. Unfortunately, her VNA workload did not leave any time to spend with those patients who longed for companionship and conversation. After much discussion with Frank they decided to purchase a Right at Home franchise where Libet could utilize her clinical training to help deliver the emotional support and homecare assistance that give seniors the independence that they desire.

Frank Callahan is an experienced executive in sales and marketing with demonstrated success in building organizations and launching new business initiatives. Frank's extensive experience in business development complements Libet's acute knowledge of the home health industry. Together, they share a sense of personal satisfaction knowing their efforts as providers of quality homecare can positively impact the lives of so many people.

Sandy Pellegrine has worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant in both a nursing home and a hospital for many years, giving her extensive insight into the caregiving industry. She is extremely aware of the importance which home environment impacts quality of life issues and how an in-home companion can alleviate stress on the family. Sandy also ran a successful home day care for many years, demonstrating her patience and dedication to providing care. Jim Pellegrine left a lucrative corporate career in retail management to pursue he and Sandy's dream of owning their own business. Together, they share a sense of personal satisfaction knowing their efforts as providers of quality homecare can positively impact the lives of so many people.

"I have spent years working in this industry and I've seen caregivers become extremely close to families," Pellegrine said. "This is the type of service I want to provide to my clients. I want to make sure they are not only hiring a caregiver, but also a friend."

"The beneficiaries of our services are not only the clients we serve, but also often include their family members," Frank Callahan said. "Unfortunately, because of distance or limited time, many families cannot provide the regular care required for their loved ones to live at home. As a Right at Home Homecare provider, I am able to remove the pressure on family members and deliver quality of life services that enable seniors to remain at home and independent for as long as possible."
