The Dairy Queen® System Commissions Survey for Favored Lunchtime Companion

Obama and Fallon Top List

March 05, 2014 // Franchising.com // MINNEAPOLIS – President Barack Obama and new Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon were chosen in a recent survey among a list of celebrities, athletes and business people as the ones Americans would most like to enjoy lunch with.

According to an online survey conducted by Harris Poll in February 2014 and commissioned by the Dairy Queen® system, which is a Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A and BRK.B) company, nearly one-third of all Americans combined chose either Obama or Fallon as someone they are a fan of and would most like to enjoy a DQ $5 Buck Lunch with.

"We extend an invitation to both President Obama and Jimmy Fallon to join their fans for a $5 Buck Lunch at a local Dairy Queen restaurant," said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). "Our $5 Buck Lunch is all about value and really differentiates the Dairy Queen system from our competition. For only $5, fans can enjoy a full meal that includes a sundae."

According to the survey, 32 percent of American adults said they are fans of either Obama (19 percent) or Fallon (13 percent) and would most like to enjoy a DQ $5 Buck Lunch with them over Bill Gates (11 percent), Katy Perry (9 percent), Oprah Winfrey (7 percent), Derek Jeter (5 percent), LeBron James (3 percent), Rihanna (3 percent), Shaun White (2 percent) and Marissa Mayer (1 percent). In addition, 36 percent of male millennials (age 18-34) chose Obama (22 percent) or Fallon (14 percent).

The DQ $5 Buck Lunch is available daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at participating locations. Fans have a choice for their $5 Buck Lunch of a ¼ lb. GrillBurger™ with cheese, 3-piece Chicken Strip Lunch or a Chili Cheese Dog, which are all served with fries, a beverage and choice of a sundae. For just $1 more, fans also will have the option to upgrade their small sundae to a small Blizzard® Treat; Mint Oreo® is the featured Blizzard Treat of the Month for March.
