German Doner Kebab (GDK) Launch Search To Find Mystery Kebab-Loving Newlyweds For Ultimate Wedding Gift

February 15, 2023 // Franchising.com // GDK, has launched a search to find the newlyweds who visited, dined and enjoyed their first dance, at the chain's Astoria restaurant last week.

Having only opened last week, GDK Astoria has launched a search to identify the newlyweds who visited the brand new Astoria restaurant following their wedding ceremony just last week. The couple not only enjoyed their first meal as a married couple at the restaurant, they were also serenaded by a member of the GDK team, whilst carrying out a romantic ‘first dance’, wearing a long white gown and suit.

When found, GDK wishes to gift the lucky couple the ultimate foodie present – free kebabs at German Doner Kebab for a year. Ali Lodi, the restaurant manager on the day, commented “It was so wonderful to be part of this couple's special day. Our colleague Barkissa serenaded them as they danced on the restaurant floor, it was truly a memorable moment.”

The store didn’t take the details of the couple and would love to get back in touch to give them their gift, Ali adds “We are just sorry that we didn’t get their names as we would love to get back in touch to gift them with free kebabs for a year – please help us find them!”.

The Chain opened its doors in Astoria on February 6th 2023, bringing its kebabs to New Yorkers. The restaurant is owned and operated by experienced restaurateurs, Yunus and Thameem Shahul.

GDK’s food is freshly prepared in front of customers, using open kitchens in all restaurants. An  uncompromising focus on quality means GDK uses only premium, lean cuts of meat, fresh  locally sourced vegetables, unique signature sauces made daily in each restaurant, and hand made Turkish-style bread with its crisply toasted waffle pattern.
