The Mitten State Celebrates 23 Hand & Stone Spas

Industry Leading Spa Franchise Converts Massage Green Spas; Introduces 10 New Spas Across Michigan with more growth planned

November 17, 2023 // Franchising.com // MICHIGAN - Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, the nation's leading luxury massage and facial spa franchise, announced today the addition of 10 new spas in Michigan. This development is part of the 23 total Massage Green franchise locations that recently converted to the Hand & Stone Massage and Facial brand. The conversion of these spas brings Hand & Stone’s total location count in the Great Lake State to 23 spas, bringing the franchise’s premier massage, spa and wellness services to even more communities seeking self-care solutions.

"Michigan’s vibrant market provides an ideal landscape for Hand & Stone’s continued expansion. With an existing 13 spa presence and the introduction of new locations through Massage Green conversions, we recognize Michigan’s potential to embrace and benefit from our wellness offerings," said Jennifer Durham, Chief Development Officer at Hand & Stone. "We were thrilled to transition both the employee and guest experience to these new communities as we amplify the reach of Hand & Stone, spreading relaxation and rejuvenation throughout the state while solidifying our position as a trusted wellness partner and an amazing place for massage therapists and estheticians to work in Michigan.”

The franchise owners leading the brand’s expansion in Michigan through this brand conversion include existing Hand & Stone franchise owner Sumit Bansal, as well as former Massage Green franchise owners Ali Abbas, Ben Odren, Charles and January Thomas, Amrieh Eljahmi and Margaret Kirk. The seven franchise owners spearheading this distinguished Midwest growth have converted the 10 new Hand & Stone spas over the past 60 days. The opportunity to convert from Massage Green to Hand & Stone, allowed these owners to expand their service offerings to their existing clientele and add to their lifestyle memberships.

“As a spa owner for the last 11 years, I’ve witnessed the changes in this industry firsthand, and can confidently say that frequent wellness services have become a form of therapy for many people, including my clients, and the opportunity to expand my offerings for them with Hand & Stone was a no-brainer for me,” explained January Thomas, franchise owner of Hand & Stone St. Clair Shores and former Massage Green spa owner.

“It’s been an incredible experience converting to the Hand & Stone brand,’ said Margaret Kirk, owner of Hand & Stone Battle Creek and former Massage Green franchise owner. “They have an extensive knowledge of franchising and how the wellness industry truly operates, and the support and resources they have provided to me thus far is unmatched.”

“I feel extremely optimistic about my future with Hand & Stone. The hands-on approach that corporate has with all its locations is a game changer when it comes to feeling supported as a franchisee,” said Ben Odren, owner of Hand & Stone Sterling Heights and former Massage Green franchisee. “This opportunity to grow into the market is much greater and we are excited to being a part of the Hand & Stone family.”

“In the beauty and wellness industry, we are in the mindset of taking care of people. At Hand & Stone, we not only take care of our clientele, but we also make sure to care for our staff,” said Sumit Bansal, a Hand & Stone multi-unit franchise owner who also participated in the Massage Green conversion efforts of Michigan. “We are investing alongside the previous Massage Green franchise owners and are excited to show them how Hand & Stone’s elite resources and high-level support to help drive franchisee success and make the transition seamless, demonstrates our value of delivering professional service.”

The converted locations will offer their clients the Hand & Stone lifestyle membership, including access to service offerings like advanced skincare and spa services, including CryoSkin treatments, Decompression Therapy massage, Diamond Glow facial, NuFACE microcurrent facial, Percussive Therapy massage and LED Phototherapy facial. The locations will also offer CBD oil enhancements and partnerships with award-winning skincare lines, Dermalogica® (including their first ever professional device, Pro Pen), ClarityRX (CBD offerings vary by market), and the brand’s newest skincare partner, IMAGE Skincare.

The brand continues to actively seek qualified individuals to help expand its presence throughout the U.S. and Canada. To learn more about franchise opportunities with Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, visit https://www.handandstonefranchise.com/.
