STRONG Pilates Launches in Japan

January 22, 2024 // Franchising.com // TOKYO, JAPAN - STRONG Pilate has announced the appointment of STRONG Pilates Japan (SPJ) as its master franchisee partner. Established by Chair and CEO, John B. Boardman, with extensive experience and success in the fitness market in Japan, SPJ plans to roll out 50 studios in Japan over the next 5 years.

Pilates and HIIT training have been growing in popularity and expanding in Japan. This is due to a confluence of factors including: increased health consciousness among the Japanese, greater emphasis on work-life balance, the advancement of women in the workforce, rapid diversification of exercise options, consumer demand for time-efficient and results-oriented exercise modalities, as well as an increase in highly specialised instructors. Participation in both Pilates and HIIT classes in Japan is expected to continue to grow steadily in the future.

SPJ will act as the master franchisee of STRONG Pilates in Japan and will develop and operate studios, sell products and services, and assist franchisees in expanding their business through the formation of a franchise team.

Full support will be provided to franchisees throughout the development of their studio - from finding locations to executing fit outs, implementing technology and delivering a comprehensive training Academy for instructors.

The fitness format was founded by Australian duo Michael Ramsey and Mark Armstrong who recognised the need to continually evolve with the global fitness community. Previously successful F45 franchise owners, they sourced and exclusively licensed the Rowformer and Bikeformer machines, developing programs to challenge both the cardio and Pilates enthusiast in a 45 minute session.
