Biscuit Belly Reflects on Success in 2023 and Announces Plans for Continued National Expansion in the New Year

Restaurant serving up a superior southern brunch, plans to focus on national franchise expansion in the new year

February 01, 2024 // Franchising.com // LOUISVILLE, KY - Biscuit Belly, a Kentucky based “craft casual” brunch restaurant serving up warm hospitality and chef-driven gourmet biscuit breakfast sandwiches, is gearing up for a dynamic start to the new year following its success in 2023. The brand saw tremendous growth, inking a deal to establish five new stores in the Charlotte area, with an additional six to eight stores currently in development, as well as internal changes to the leadership team to help Biscuit Belly reach their goal of bringing damn good biscuits to more cities throughout the country.

“After a triumphant 2023, we are eager to continue on our expansion journey with six locations in construction throughout Kentucky, Viriginia, and the Carolinas, all anticipated to open in 2024”, said Chad Coulter, Founder and CEO of Biscuit Belly. “We are motivated to continue on our accelerated pace and aim to finalize four development deals by the end of 2024, with a particular focus on the Florida markets.”

The brand is confident in its ability to achieve its goals, given the robust interest from potential franchise partners eager to expand the brand and the recent addition to their leadership team, bringing on Tarah Freestone as Vice President of Operations. With over 15 years of expertise working with emerging and established brands in the restaurant space, Freestone is an incredible asset in helping to shape the systems and processes in place for future Biscuit Belly franchise partners and management, developing strong operators as the brand continues to grow.

Looking forward, Biscuit Belly is committed to enhancing consumer engagement and community involvement by introducing new influencer programs, fostering brand partnerships, and organizing community giveback events throughout the year. The brand will be rolling out some exciting LTO menu items, including the reintroduction of heart-shaped biscuits and chocolate gravy through their 'Chocolate Love Shack,' 'Chocolate Pancakes,' and 'Chocolate One and Done'. Additionally, Biscuit Belly has collaborated with Louisville Cream to bring ‘Ice Cream for Breakfast’ with a Biscuit Belly Sundae, showing off their scratch-made biscuits that are sugar coated and paired with their French Vanilla ice cream, elderberry jam and whipped cream. The brand also has plans to launch 'Peach Please' this summer, bringing back a previously LTO highlighting peaches on various menu items.

Biscuit Belly also unveiled their updated catering menu just in time for the holiday season in 2023, featuring new creations and timeless southern comfort dishes that were game changers in the breakfast and brunch space. The brand received a great response from the cities they serve, with the catering menu playing a monumental role in the brands success this past year.

“We love finding new ways to excite our customers through innovating our menu and the response we’ve received from our guests makes us eager to continue to adapt,” said Lauren Coulter, Co-Founder of Biscuit Belly. “In 2024, we’re excited to lean even more into the communities we serve, not only through menu development, but by finding ways to give back locally in a more meaningful way. Biscuit Belly has big plans to ramp up our efforts in the new year and we can’t wait to get the ball rolling."

In addition to finding new ways to give back to their customers, the brand is excited to escalate its community efforts in the cities they serve, focusing on supporting teachers, veterans, and the LGBTQ+ community. Biscuit Belly plans to recreate the success of their Veterans Day giveback initiative in the new year, which benefited over 1,000 veterans in 2023, offering them a free breakfast sandwich and drip coffee or soda as a small token to thank them for their service. Additionally, they plan on stepping up giveback efforts for Teacher Appreciation Week and Back-to-School Weeks, which will feature a special Biscuit Belly mug along with pencils and pens for educators. The brand is also planning to collaborate with a member of the queer community to create a cocktail to celebrate Pride month in June.

Biscuit Belly is actively seeking single and multi-unit franchise partners. The brand currently has ten locations open and 20+ locations in development, with plans to sign five additional multi-unit deals by the end of 2024. Including the franchise fee, the initial investment for a Biscuit Belly franchise is between $697,000 to $1,102,000.
