The Big Biscuit® Announces the Opening of the Mission Location on Sunday, February 11, 2024

February 12, 2024 // Franchising.com // PRAIRIE VILLAGE, KS – The Big Biscuit® President Chad Offerdahl today announced that the Breakfast and Lunch concept will open the much-anticipated Mission, Kansas, restaurant at 7017 Johnson Drive on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024. Doors will open at 6:30 a.m., with The Big Biscuit Mission team welcoming diners to enjoy the menu, which features oversized buttermilk biscuits and gravy, omelets, griddled classics like pancakes, French toast, and various egg Benedicts. Lunch menu items like half-pound fresh beef burgers, 24-hour brined fried chicken, salads, and signature dishes also will be available.

The community is welcome to attend a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony with Swoon cookies, coffee, and The Big Biscuit’s Sticky Biscuits at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27th.

The Big Biscuit, headquartered in Prairie Village, Kansas, renovated the building that had been home to the popular Mexican restaurant Don Chilitos for decades.

“The Big Biscuit Mission location has undergone a complete transformation, but we kept the entryway cutout as a symbol of the building's history when it used to be Don Chilitos,” Offerdahl said. “Our goal is to create a familiar feeling for the community. The interior includes a signature lighted ‘local’ sign highlighting our hometown pride.”

Other features include a cozy breakfast counter, a merchandise shelf with logoed t-shirts, hats, and mugs available for purchase, a convenient to-go order station, a custom chalkboard designed by local artist Amy Lynn Sell, a covered heated patio, a private dining room with seating for 30, and more.

In late 2023, The Big Biscuit implemented new POS technology to enable seamless guest experience, including tableside ordering and checkout.

“We are thrilled to be in Mission and look forward to serving the community,” Offerdahl said. “Whether someone is looking for a hearty breakfast, a creative lunch option, or a morning or lunch meeting spot, they will find it here, along with our friendly Big Biscuit team eager to deliver authentic, hometown hospitality.”

The Big Biscuit elevates the guest experience by emphasizing top-quality comfort food freshly prepared with a twist, like the Bonut, a buttermilk biscuit dipped in French toast batter and fried to perfection. Tossed in powdered sugar, The Big Biscuit’s alternative to the donut is available with add-on specialty toppings. The Big Scram-Bowl is a modern interpretation of a traditional omelet with eggs, ham, mushrooms, and cheddar. The Alamo is an overstuffed breakfast burrito with eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, jalapeno peppers, and a chipotle cream sauce smothered with jack and cheddar cheese and salsa. All dishes are served in generous portions in a welcoming, family-friendly, and inclusive atmosphere.

The Big Biscuit is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., closing only on Thanksgiving and Christmas. At select locations Monday through Friday, private rooms are available for meetings and gatherings at no charge.
