Captain D’s Kicks Off 2024 Development with Oakland Grand Opening and Tennessee Expansion

Second Largest Franchisee Opens First Restaurant as Part of 10-Store Development Agreement

February 15, 2024 // Franchising.com // NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Captain D’s, the nation’s leading fast casual seafood restaurant, announced today its newest opening in Oakland, Tennessee. Located at 35 West Land Way Cove, this new restaurant is operated by Joe Springer, owner of Nufish LLC, the brand’s second largest franchisee. Since joining forces with Captain D’s in 2009, the Nufish group has helped expand the brand’s footprint across Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee, with the Oakland restaurant marking its 21st location.

“Our latest Captain D’s opening in Oakland marks the beginning of an exciting journey for us as we set our sights on further expansion in the Memphis region,” said Joe Springer. “As a proud partner of Captain D's for fifteen years, I have witnessed the unique evolution of the seafood category, with a shift away from burgers and chicken boxes towards seafood. With this transition in mind, we eagerly anticipate serving quality and craveable dishes to the vibrant Oakland community and furthering our growth throughout Tennessee.”

As part of a broader 10-store development agreement, the Oakland restaurant signifies Nufish’s inaugural opening for 2024. The veteran restaurant operators anticipate introducing three additional restaurants later this year in nearby neighborhoods of Covington, Arlington and Memphis.

"It’s always rewarding to see franchise partners like Joe continue to expand and excel within the Captain D’s franchise system,” said Brad Reed, chief development officer of Captain D’s. "This latest opening represents not only a significant milestone for Nufish as the restaurant group’s 21st Captain D’s establishment, but underscores Joe and his team’s commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction. We are confident in the continued growth of our partnership with Nufish, and we look forward to extending the reach of Captain D's offerings to even more communities."

Located at 35 West Land Way Cove, the new Oakland restaurant features Captain D’s vibrant, coastal design and welcoming atmosphere, serving high-quality seafood with warm hospitality at an affordable price. With dining room seating for 44, the restaurant also has carry-out and call-ahead ordering options, as well as a drive-thru equipped with state-of-the-art technology for efficiency and speed. Hours of operation are Sunday – Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.  Call-ahead orders can be placed by calling 901-661-9098.
